Good site, close to town

A 2 night stay at this lovely site. access road is old fashioned cobbles, so do not bomb along, unless you want everything to fall out of the cupboards. Upon arrival had to queue at gate to get in, not a problem, but staff attitude left a lot to be desired, with a shouted DO NOT TAILGATE through the intercom, even though we was not moving and the access gate was down. Once in reception, the lady behind the counter was rude, never experienced this at any other sites before, so to say we was shocked was an understatement. Picked a pitch, reversed onto it, as per the diagram, for another staff member to come over and say all wrong and to move, when I said, I have parked as per the diagram, the comment was " I will tell you how to park, not a diagram". The site itself is lovely, with the local railway on the boundary, so nice to sit and watch the steam train moving backwards and forwards. Go out of the entrance and there is a lovely ice cream shop, highly recommended, we had 2 visits. Nice pub also there. Country park has a nice walk along the river, and if you walk far enough (not too far to be fair), you can get access right to the river edge, for a paddle, grandson loved it, and he learnt how to skim stones, also saw a dad and lad fishing there at the same time further round the corner. Got a taxi into Bury (£7 each way), to go to the market, can highly recommend a visit to the market, as well as a walk round the town Other than the staff, I would highly recommend this site, and if a different team there would not hesitate to go back.
