Good for families

A pleasant surprise

We came to Burrs from 16th - 19th August because we wanted a site fairly close to family in Wigan - it fitted in with an event we were going to. We had two of our grandchildren and the dog with us. I worked in Bury for several years but did not know much about the area so was surprised to see a country park so close to the town centre. As motorhome owners we like to be close to some amenities and we all enjoyed our walk to the market and had a Thai/English meal an excellent café there - Thai Corner. On the Friday evening we booked at the Brown Cow, a very traditional pub, and we had an excellent good value meal. I recommend the steak. The railway was an added bonus and as it was Sci-Fi weekend we had a lovely day travelling up and down the line from the station next to the site. We enjoyed several walks in the country park with the dog - the site Is dog friendly and has a small walk area that is handy at night. The wardens quite rightly ask you not to allow your dogs to pee on their fence because their living area would become unbearable with the smell. This is no hardship to responsible dog owners. My dog is quite happy to wait until he is off site. The toilet blocks were the best maintained that I have seen. I saw no broken tiles or doors locked without people in. I thought the whole site was very well run, with pleasant wardens and excellent information provided. We would like to come again and visit the various places along the railway for walks.
