A great site with easy access to a pub and The East Lancs Railway

Friends recommended the site to us and we were not disappointed. The site and facilities were spotless; always a good sign. The wardens were friendly and helpful. The Brown Cow is approximately 100m from the outer barrier to the site and is well worth visiting for the food and cask ales at reasonable prices. Hot drinks are also keenly priced. The East Lancs Railway runs right past the perimeter fence and Caravan & Motorhome Club members get a two for one deal on roamer tickets - a great deal and a great way of visiting some of the local towns. The bus stop to Bury is not far (approx 15 mins of slow walking), but be warned the buses run only hourly and there is a gap between 2pm and just after 5pm for the last bus. Hopefully, a fuller service will be in place during the summer months. It was windy whilst we were there and we "enjoyed" two inches of snow on the Saturday night. The site looked lovely, but we were leaving Sunday! No problems with the local roads though. Looking forward to returning when there is more sun and less snow.
