Well kept site

Lovely site well situated on the edge of the town. Facilities were kept spotlessly clean. The wardens I spoke with were very friendly and helpful. One of the things I particularly liked about our stay there was the absence of dogs barking. I find lately that on CAMC sites there are far too many dogs which owners can’t control and to be fair the noise spoils my stay. I personally think they should limit the number of dogs a person can bring but that is my opinion. Unfortunately, for our stay it was the Diesel engine running and not the steam train but hopefully on our next stay we will see it. Really nice meal in the Brown Cow with reasonable prices.

Excellent site

Clean well kept open site with good helpful wardens, easy access from major road networks and location is good for walking and visiting surrounding areas of the north west. There are two pubs a cafe within five minutes walk. The only grumble I had was the other caravaners and motorhome visitors walking through our pitch rather than using the footpaths provided,

An oasis just outside the centre of Bury

Stayed two nights needing somewhere easy drive to Manchester Old Trafford. I was thoroughly impressed. The site managers were brilliant, really helpful. The site itself was clean well supplied and generous pitches. I would not hesitate to come back.

Visit Jubilee weekend

All I can say is what an excellent team of wardens at Burrswood, they made the jubilee weekend one to remember running the site and providing a great party atmosphere with prizes , games and entertainment.

Brilliant Site

We were there for a week at the end of May 2022 and it is a lovely site. The pitches are large, there are friendly staff, very clean facilities and loads of things to do. Would certainly go back to this site.

Were we unlucky?

The site itself is nice and the staff very helpful, however, our first night was very disturbed by a helicopter going round and round overhead for over an hour from 11.30. Next night there were long protracted fireworks, again for an hour between 11 and midnight. I think we were possibly unlucky, but on our final morning I walked into the shower block to be met by a woman and an Alsatian type dog, couldn't quite believe it- what she do with it when she was using the facilities? I know dogs are welcome, but this seemed one step too far.

Good for Overnight Stop

We stayed at Burrs Country Park for 1 night, mainly to visit our son who lives in Manchester. Access to the site was easy, apart from the cobbled area. We had booked a serviced pitch and were told which were available, which was very useful. We chose a corner pitch, 76, with a good view of the steam trains. The pitches and facilities were as good as always and the site felt very open We had a lovely walk around the country park. 2 pubs are very close but we never got the chance to try them. The next morning we met our son in Manchester for breakfast. We had planned to walk into Bury and take the tram in but we didn’t have time so we drove in. This isn’t somewhere we would choose to holiday but would certainly stop over again and there were more things we would want to do next time.

Good Facilities and service

Stayed on a serviced pitch with a 2nd row view of the ELR railway, site is well laid out and feels spacious and open. Do not set up camp on pitches the other side of the hedge from the pub beer garden if you want a less raucous evening at weekends. I could not fault the facilities block and service from the staff. As this site is accessed through Bury town and onto Burrs Country Park you need your wits about you to navigate the junctions but the club directions work well and inform you the best way in, the cobbled access road through the country park ensures that all items not bolted down in your van get a good shuffle! Burrs Country Park itself is a bit of an enigma being good for walking / cycling etc but let down by the state of what could be an excellent Industrial Heritage location, poorly maintained waterways and overgrown structures give it a very neglected feel, no doubt the money ran out but not after some really random structures, sorry, works of art were installed. The sites platform to the steam railway is a great addition (although the access is via a path outside the site) and worth a nostalgic trip up and down the line with the Club discount when booking tickets.

Pleasant stay.....

Booked this site as it was near to where our daughter lived & enabled us to help with 'childcare' during the Easter holidays.... It is a very spacious site with plenty of grass areas around the hardstanding pitches..... The facilities are kept spotless by the hard working, friendly & accommodating wardens. Service with a smile. A special thank you to Sally & Peter. I'm sure they had plenty of complaints to deal with (& I'm sure the club will also hear about this to....) due to the loud, live event at the adjacent pub on Easter Sunday, which would have been a little more bearable if the 'artists' could actually sing!!!! The 'cobbles' on approach are an experience but is is an ideal location for a family stay but couldn't really recommend a stay of longer than 5 days..... For me, the East Lancs Railway was a bit of 'nostalgia' with the steam trains running although I can't be as enthusiastic about the views from the train as everywhere looked very tired & run down. The 2 for 1 offer for CAMC members reduced the overall cost & was happy to support this heritage railway. Would definitely stay again but not for so long.
