Excellent site

We had been recommended for this site and on arrival, the wardens are helpful and friendly. The pitches are good and the facilities are clean. The walks around the country park are excellent, but bring wellies when wet weather, as it is muddy! There is welcome dog wash on the site, although my dogs would have preferred warm water! It is a dog friendly site and there is a small off lead dog area. The country park is right next door though, so the dog area is only useful for a quick walk out. The steam trains are regular and great to see go past the site. We will definately be back.

Great site for Flying Scotsman viewing

We were visiting family in Bury and wondered why the site was full on the Saturday night at this time of year but found out the Flying Scotsman was in town. My husband being an amateur steam train enthusiast was delighted by this news and, after staying the night in a pub car park (with their permission as we were meeting family for lunch on Mothering Sunday) we saw the Flying Scotlsman on Sunday morning in Rawtenstall. After a lovely lunch at Owd Betts we arrived at Burrs to a warm welcome. Found our pitch no problem near the lovely facilities and realised the railway line ran behind the site. We were given a great view of the steam engine again and can see this site as being a great attraction to steam engine enthusiasts. We ate at The Brown Cow pub which is right next to the site.  The pub was very busy, food great and have never seen so many dogs in a pub at the same time, including our two. Walking dogs is easy as walking areas very near the site and great for children as play parks nearby too. There is also the famous Bury Market to visit and the area surrounding Burrs has remnants of the mill buildings and workings. We have stayed at Burrs before and will be again.

excellent site

Spacious pitches and very clean and well laid out site. Very friendly staff. Good location in country park and for access to wider area. Just be aware that if you have a nervous dog the country park does have many dogs off lead, but is great for dog walking and more. Added bonus for our stay was centenary visit of Flying Scotsman with line right next to the site.

Very friendly and helpful weclome

I hadn't booked in advance. I was greeted with a very friendly and helpful welcome. We stayed for only one night en route and liked the site and its situation on the edge of the park. Also the large Tesco is convenient and there was no problem in parking a motorhome there. The site itself is quite exposed and would benefit from internal hedging to provide some privacy between pitches and generally enhance the feel of the site. The site feels new although it isn't.

Another great stay

Arrived mid-afternoon, was delt with quickly, great sense of humour which I welcomed. Actually found the same pitch that I used last time, hand for the facilities and exit. Site spotless, facilities were fabulous and warm, showers etc all good. Couple of pubs close by, one just outside the site and on a little further away. I left this one in the dark and the walk back is "interesting", the pub closer being the easy option. Burrs Park good for short walks and dogs etc. and adventure play activities for kids. Will be lovely in the summer, works taking place over the winter have chewed up a lot of the landscaping. I walked to Peel Tower / Monument, round trip of about 7 miles but worth it. Couldn’t fault the park and the wardens, for me its a short hop, great for a quick weekend away and next time going to try and co-ordinate with the trains.

Wonderful site and wardens

Burrs Park is one of our “Go to” sites for weekends away as it’s close to home and we never fail to have a good time. Facilities are spotless and the site as a whole is always very well maintained. We visited last weekend and had the usual great time until my back seized up on Saturday night, meaning I was unable to pack anything up let alone drive home on Sunday morning. (I usually get to site Friday and set up before my wife and daughter arrive after school). After speaking to the wardens about the situation, they could not have been more helpful, and told us not to worry, leave everything on site, go home and get better and collect the caravan and tow vehicle when I was better. They would keep an eye on everything for us and their main concern was for me to get home and get better. We returned today to collect the caravan and the wardens were genuinely concerned about my welfare. They are a credit to the club and I can not thank them enough for the compassion shown and for keeping an eye on everything while we were absent. We will be back again soon hopefully. Thank you wardens.

Great find

Called in for a stop on the way back from Scotland to the south on a very cold December day. Excellent warm welcome and genuine friendliness from all the staff we met. Good clean facilities, nice and quiet with lovely surroundings , but all the shops you need close at hand. So stayed a second night... no point rushing!

Lovely and helpful wardens!

I've just returned from my second visit to Burrs and the lovely wardens provide a warm and friendly arrival. My first ever towing trip was to Burrs in June 21 and Peter was very helpful in guiding me to a pitch and even came to help me reverse. He was very understanding with my not so brilliant reversing, which I'm pleased to say has improved. I appreciate the new two marker system which provides some room for manoeuvre. Thank you! I'll see you again.

Never disappointed!

Arrived minutes to 1pm and were met at the barrier by the lovely warden who welcomed us in. Hassle free, cheery check in at reception and we're pitched and set up in no time. The site was busy but immaculate and maintained very dutifully by the wardens. This was our 7th time at Burrs but last visit was late 2020 after lockdown. In that time, a dog wash has appeared, very useful being Autumn and next to the country park, sadly we lost our dog in the summer. This trip was our 1st to Burrs without our furbaby but it enabled us to walk into town, approx 15mins, catch the tram to the Manchester Christmas Markets £4.10 return and eat out, non of which we couldn't do before. The pub next to the site was busy but squeezed us in for an early tea. Likewise, the cafe just off site served us a lovely breakfast. The facilities block has had a new door fitted, and the facilities themselves were lovely and warm and very clean. The only slight annoyance was the caravanner who pulled off his pitch next to the motorhome service point and then proceeded to pull into the service point to empty his loo and put his mirrors on even though it was obvious we were waiting to use the MH service point. When we towed, we used to do all that before leaving the pitch! It meant only a 10 minute wait whilst he sorted himself out but hey ho, you can't cure selfishness! Thanks Burrs and the very delightful wardens for another good weekend.

Nice big site

We stayed here for 5 nights with our Campervan, Awning and two dogs. We arrived at 1pm, the earliest arrival time, and we were part of a convoy of new arrivals. It didn’t take long to be processed, basically paid and asked to find a vacant pitch. The pitches are formed with quite quite large stones and on the hardest ground I have ever experienced. It was a huge effort to get the pegs in. The other thing of note on this site is that due to ample spacing between the pots, the distance from the electrical hook up means you could require a very long cable. The camp site was well maintained. The showers were beautifully clean and plenty of water pressure. There was a also a dog wash point. The on-site shop had quite a few essential items on sale. There was plenty of walks nearby and the East Lancs Steam Railway had a station on site, you could buy day roaming ticket for £21 and buy one get one free with your membership. There is a nice pub on site and lots of supermarkets within walking distance. The Town of Bury can be reached in 30 mins. Bury is more like a City in terms of shopping, it has literally ever shop under the sun and a nice market too. i would definitely come back to this site
