Why, oh why?
Stunning! Absolutely beautiful! Amazing! Some of the descriptions used for this gorgeous site.
To see the loch and mountains change constantly with the sunlight, mist and clouds is an absolute pleasure. So peaceful too. So what on earth possessed 2 motorhomes and a caravan to arrive, park on the very first row of porches next to the loch and then ruin the atmosphere by erecting huge flagpoles which flashed with coloured lights and also string coloured flashing lights around a windbreak? It looked like Blackpool illuminations! You don’t go to a place of outstanding natural beauty and then ruin it for everyone around you by spoiling the views of the sunsets with artificial distracting lights.
Apart from that, this site is in a fabulous location. Perfect for taking the free ferry across the loch and cycling for miles on mainly flat, quiet roads (turn right from the ferry, not left if you want the quietest road). Glencoe is stunning, Fort William has supermarkets & shops and the train station, from where you can take the scenic ride to Mallaig.
Toilet block dated but wardens work very hard to keep it clean and tidy, as well as the rest of the site and were very friendly and helpful. All in all, a wonderful place to relax, sit and watch the amazing views, seals and salmon jumping.
