Good for families

Playing fair at Bunree.

Bunree is in such a beautiful location on the shores of Loch Linnhe, views beyond compare and sunsets that bring us all out of our ‘vans to gawp and photograph the scene! This is especially from the shoreline pitches and herein lies a problem. Because they are so popular, you need to arrive at the site as soon after the arrival time as possible and “latecomers” have little chance. We arrived at gone 2pm and, by a serious fluke, we were fortunate to get on the shore but it was truly exceptional. The time for arrival is clearly stated here on the website, on the booking form and even in a big notice at the end of the roadway to the site, as 1pm. Yet virtually every day of our 14 night stay, there were people queuing up in the arrivals area well before 1pm, many well before 12 noon and thus, those who obey the rules are disadvantaged. Now, we can’t all estimate the length of a journey to within minutes but an hour and a half early by 1pm would require remarkable misjudgement! Best to plan your journey to arrive “after 1pm”. There is nothing the wardens can do of course, it is up to us as members of the Club to obey the rules and be fair to our fellow members.

Response from the Club

Thank you for your review and we're delighted you enjoyed your stay with us.

Due to our narrow entrance road and out of consideration for neighbours please do not arrive before 1pm, this will ensure minimal congestion/disruption for both arriving and departing guests.

Bunree lochside pitches have ALWAYS been at a premium, they are non-awning, so, not for everyone, it is always possible to swap pitches to one on the lochside (for years known as the Bunree Shuffle). You just have to consult the Warden before moving,  arrival time in the current CMC manual is 12'oclock and has been for many years, only changed for 2020 because of Covid.

So, not unfair, just unlucky.

Agree that arriving before the sceduled arrival times shouldn't  happen. Not everyone checks online while away on holiday.AND we are always told to consult the Manual for directions etc.,

Soon after sites opened in July, yes you could argue the confusion with amended arrival times, but into October? Really? Most people have been using sites since July so know there is a fair chance the arrival time has changed to allow the hard working staff the extra cleaning time required, for all our benefit and safety. Lots of people book online and a fair percentage not long before arriving, so all current amendments are clearly stated. If unsure, a quick courteous phone call to the site would clear up your uncertainty and inconvenience  ðŸ˜Š
