Nearly blown away .... but not necessarily a good thing!

We arrived here in August 2021 for a 4-night stay after a few nights near Loch Lomond. After a stunning drive across Rannoch Moor and through Glen Coe, we arrived at Bunree in the middle of a storm. Within a few hours, we really wondered whatever we had done. There was horizontal rain, and the site's location is extremely exposed, with strong winds blowing a gale down Loch Linnhe. We were OK in the Motorhome, but our son was cold and wet in the awning, as the rain managed to penetrate through the side walls. Nonetheless, when the rain stopped (which happened intermittently!) the views and sunsets across the loch were stunning. However, even as a keen cold water swimmer, I was disappointed not to be able to swim from the site, as it did not feel particularly safe to do so, due to the currents, and no-one else was venturing into the water. (In contrast, regular daily swims in Loch Lomond and Loch Morlich in Aviemore). Facilities were spotless, and we made use of the washing and drying machines. The site is well-located for Glen Coe, with nice walks nearby. Our pilgrimage to "The Skyfall Road" nearby was made particularly memorable by the presence of an Aston Martin DB5 doing the same thing!!! A day trip on the Jacobite Train is well worth doing, and we even got back in the car on our return to Fort William Station to drive back to Glenfinnan for a bit more exporation. Our Highland Adventure of 2021, with Motorhome for living and sleeping, and Tesla electric vehicle for exploration, worked well with superchargers in Fort William, Inverness and Aviemore. There is a facility to charge on site at Bunree for £8 per day, but we didn't take this up as the superchargers were so close, and it wasn't clear how fast this would be. Overall, the site made a good base for exploring this part of Scotland, but I think that we were a bit unlucky with the weather .... but that is to be expected in Scotland!
