If only every site had views like this

I've been going to Scotland on holiday since I was 10 years old in my parents Tourer but we never stayed on this site. The site we used to stop on was across the small river at the side of the campsite with similar stunning views. 35 years on and I’m now taking my family to Scotland and my parents are stopping in a cottage. We love the area and stayed on site for a week in July. The first thing to say is don't make any plans until you get up there. In our 7 day stay it rained for 5 days and it turned out to be one of the wettest July's ever (Just our luck with temperatures at home being in the 30's). If you are looking for guaranteed sun then Scotland’s not for you. If you want adventure and stunning views then this is the place to stay. The site arrival is via traffic lights and down a narrow single track that opens up into a spacious reception point. We have a twin axle swift being pulled by a Mercedes Viano so if we can get down the track then anyone can. The reception is small but adequate with a few essentials in case you have forgotten anything. The pitches are standard gravel pitches and some of the pitches require 25m+ electric hook up cables. There are plenty of water and waste water points around the site and the amenity block is large, clean and warm. There is also a small games room in the block with a pool table. There is plenty of open space however the wardens are strict about dogs being walked on the specific dog walking spot. This can prove very difficult when the tide has come in and the footpath is under water so some common sense needs to be applied. Everyone on site was very friendly with fellow travellers regularly stopping and chatting. In the week we stayed, there were very few children so our 9 year old played on her scooter going round the site. There are many speed bumps around site so vehicles aren't speeding which makes it very safe for children. There is also a play area with slides and climbing frame for children to use. The views are absolutely stunning and you have many walks within a few minutes’ drive of the site with different levels from the novice to the experienced. Fort William is just 10 miles away with a large Morrison’s for doing a weekly shop as well as the usual tourist shops and mills. A 10 minute drive in the other direction to Ballachulish you have a Co-op for any essentials. If I was going to give any tips it would be this. If you are travelling from the south through Glasgow take the Sterling road to the site unless you are travelling overnight. The reason for this is the road up the side of Loch Lomond is very narrow in places and if you are towing and come up against a bus then you’re in trouble. At night when it’s dark you can see the headlights coming the other way which gives you time to prepare for oncoming traffic. If you don't fancy Russian Roulette then stick with the Sterling Road. Have a great time.
