Peaceful

This is a peaceful and quiet site bordering a golf course, which you can walk across to an excellent sandy beach with plenty of wildlife. The access to the site is tight, more so due to ongoing roadworks, but presumably they won't go on too long. Friendly enough site, though they did seem a bit grumpy when I was asking about the voltage post power cut. Coincidentally my fridge stopped working and the screen was showing less than 200v. I was only trying to work out the problem not blaming anyone. Anyway spotlessly clean facilities as per normal at CC sites. Unfortunately prior to Brora we had stayed at the beautiful Bunree hence the views and general area were not anything like we had experienced there. That said it is very peaceful and beautiful area in its own way, just more gentle. Locally there is a couple of petrol stations close by, in Brora there is a good Coop, the The Sutherland Inn was a very good place to eat in (Book first) as was the more expensive but equally good Royal Marine Hotel. The Trawler Inn in Golspie was also good. Taking the back routes north to the Thurso area is rewarding though John O'Groats was less inspiring. Wick has a large Tescos and as a town was probably worth a visit but time was not in our favour. Inverness is a good hour / hour and a half away, the whale watching there was a large no show and the town was OK at best. Would we return …. no probably not because we prefer the Western Highlands, but we are glad we did try Brora.
