WOULD NOT GO BACK!
From what appears to be a very nice looking site in a great location, I really would not return or recommend this place. This site is not worthy to be associated with the Caravan & Motorhome Club!
First off the reception staff have an attitude and persona that make you feel as though you are an inconvenience from the moment you turn up to the moment you leave to hand back your swipe card.
Next up; the wardens just appear to be having their own holiday... they really couldn't care and there are no site rules being upheld. Amplified sound systems blasting out from the tent field making our van vibrate from the bass, and when contacting the wardens about the volume they just said "well as long as it'd not annoying anyone"... Just looking around everyone had gone inside their vans on such a hot evening too, perhaps more should have complained.
Then there's the unruly kids (I’m not against kids having fun or playing), now a usual policy of any campsite is don't cut through someone else's pitch. Here is seems perfectly acceptable for kids to fly around at high speed on bikes, through your pitch, around your van, under your canopy, climbing in trees at the rear of your pitch from first thing in the morning to last thing at night when there's a perfectly good play park for them. You wouldn't even want to sit outside late even when music isn't blasting out due to the constant disruption.
Our new awning has also been damaged beyond repair, marks of oil from a pushbike chain on one corner and pegs being dislodged when we returned to the site one day. It appears a pushbike has shot through at the rear of our pitch between our van and the hedge row and someone came off into our awning, this has split the air poles next to the valve meaning we had to take down our awning early as it wouldn't hold air and it's in an area which can't be repaired. Our sun canopy also nearly came a cropper when a child ran through and caught our guy rope holding it, luckily I had managed to get the pegs in properly for that, but they marked their face up from the guy rope so that was some speed they came running through at.
Next to mention are the hard standings... using a 4lb hammer on rock pegs seemed to work in some areas but there were a lot of places where the pegs wouldn't go in more than 2"-3" before they just stopped. I have never bent so many rock pegs attempting to get them in the ground ever! So be warned if wanting to put up an awning, we took very heavy duty good quality rock pegs and still couldn’t drive them in properly.
All in all, the site has so much potential, but it needs to be governed correctly with simple basic standards that most other sites adopt. A clean toilet block is not enough to warrant a holiday anywhere.
