Good for families

The site is excellent, drawbacks are not the fault of the site or the Club

I'll start with the down-sides. Brighton is a magnet for dossers, ne'er-do-wells, all manner of riff-raff, and the area the site is in seems to attract them in droves. Despite the Club and the Council having partially sorted out the parking issues in the approach lane, there are still numerous campervans, converted ambulances and the like who either buck the rules or work the system to be able to "wild camp" along the lane. There are also tent campers and rough sleepers who sleep in the bushes, on the grass etc, many of whom blatantly take advantage of the fact that the site shower blocks are not locked. The site itself accepts tent campers and non-members and so attracts a wide variety of unconventional people and similarly unconventional outfits, to put it mildly! I felt sorry for the site staff having to deal with some of the unpleasant sites that were left behind in some of the toilets, in some cases rendering them unusable until they had been cleared/cleaned or whatever. On the plus side, the staff do a blinding job keeping the site in tip-top condition, whilst maintaining courtesy and good humour. The site is well located for getting to Brighton, as well as the Marina where there are numerous cafes, restaurants etc. Particularly worth a mention is the Cherry Tree which is family and dog friendly. One final grumble - if I book an awning pitch, I would expect to be able to erect an awning without having to use a Kango to get the pegs in!!
