Poor Location for a Quiet Break

We stayed at this site early September for a two week break. What the Caravan Club doesn't tell you is that the site is sandwiched between and surrounded by a sports complex and a football club. We arrived on the Saturday morning and had to endure several hours in the afternoon of Whitehawk FC playing at home. It was like being on the side lines of the match with the drums banging and whistles blowing. For the two weeks we were at the site there were different sports tournaments and matches played continuously and on one evening we were treated to a music concert at the sports complex which went on until past 11.30pm and was loud! The access road to the site is a complete nightmare when there are events on at the lower sports field as coaches and cars clog up the road and make the site almost inaccessible. The signs in the showers should be in several languages as either people cannot read the signs or they are just lazy when it comes to being asked to squeegee the shower after they have used it. Saying that, there were a couple of occasions when the toilets/showers were not cleaned at all by the wardens. We had a super/serviced pitch which we were surprised, being the most expensive pitches on the site, were located opposite the dustbins and every morning when we woke we were surrounded by rubbish which had been emptied from the bins by the foxes and blown around by the wind. This was quickly cleared up by the wardens although on one occasion when I mentioned all the rubbish blown under our caravan was told to leave it as it would just blow into the hedges. If it wasn't for the location, the site would have been pleasant enough although all the other sites we have stayed at have seen the wardens cutting the grass when pitches were vacated but in all the time we were here the grass was only cut once and that was in the play area which again is located right in the middle of the site amongst the most expensive pitches. If I stayed here again, which I wouldn't, I would have a cheaper pitch for a better location. As other people have mentioned, the site was almost full of motorhomes and huge RV's many of whom stayed briefly and which made the site quite busy most of the time. The day before we left the site a huge RV arrived which opened its doors and half a dozen children poured out who just ran amok through the caravans and around the site shouting and screaming and playing havoc in the shower block. We have noticed a decline in the standard of certain sites over the years and especially the way children are being allowed to run around the site the sites and ride their bikes and scooters until all hours and unfortunately the Club does not seem willing to address these issues. Not everybody wants to enjoy other people's children! The Caravan Club is not cheap and so I think in the future we will look to privately owned sites for a more quite and relaxing break.
