Good clean site with helpful staff. Ideal to explore the surrounding area and the town of Brighton. Visitor from the Midlands slowly getting to know the south of our country.
A DAY'S WORK DONE
I had the opportunity to drive to Brighton on a Thursday evening and work from my motorhome on the Friday, thereby avoiding the Friday rush on the M25. I was really pleased that the WiFi on the site is so much improved - even though the site was moderately full - I was able to work on line all day without problem. Thank you.
Lovely site, shame the staff aren't more helpful
This was our first ever night away in our motorhome. We told the warden on arrival & he said if we needed any help just to ask, he was a member of the club as well. We found our fully serviced pitch, plugged the electric in then realised we didn't have a hose to get the water in the van. We went back to the office but the warden just said because of health & safety he couldn't lend us a hose but he gave us a business card & said if we drove 10 minutes down the road to this shop we could buy a hose. We had some bottled water with us so we used that & walked into Brighton & bought some more. When we got back to the van we spoke to our neighbour & he filled us up & told us about the service points we could have used if the warden had told us about them. The actual site was lovely & in a good position. The new shower & toilet blocks were really good. We will go back.
Good location
The site is ideally located just about 10 minutes walk from the beach and a further 20ish minutes from the pier attraction. When we arrived one of the two toilet blocks was out of use due to a major refurbishment work and when it has been completed will certainly add to the value of this lovely site. The overworked remaining toilet block was extremely well managed and even after a whole days use was relatively clean despite the fact that the site was very busy. The campsite was very clean and despite seeing other reviews highlighting dog waste everyday, we saw little evidence of this problem; must have been a bad week.
We had problems with the WiFi and from Sunday till late Wednesday could not log-on. This issue was reported to the site staff and there stated that it was probably due to heavy use; not acceptable in this modern era and we are getting annoyed with the same excuses whenever we visit Club sites with WiFi. When will the Club drag itself into the 21st century and provide the service we all expect nowadays.
This was the only issue we had and will certainly visit it in the future.
Something to look forward to
We have just made our first visit this year to one of our favourite sites. This our first visit since the approach road has been cleared and what a delight it was. The smile on our faces began as we left the main road. It was like coming home after being away. A cheerful welcome as usual and a decent pitch. No problems even with just the one toilet block open. Spotlessly clean and nice and warm. Would recommend the site but it may mean we can't get a booking. Enjoy.
good holiday
A good holiday very helpful to us as we are new to this the bus a must go for miles very clean site
Great site for visiting Brighton
Although the site is undergoing renovation to one of the toilet blocks it had no effect on our stay. The second toilet block was warm and clean. The wardens were very friendly and we enjoyed our stay. There is a lot of sports fields around the site which are used during the day and into the evening but to be honest they also had little effect on our stay. This site is ideal for visiting Brighton and the surrounding area. We will be back again as my oldest son has now relocated to Brighton for work.
Speeds
Very nice site close to everything we wanted. Was only spoilt by people not following rules re speed and one-way system. Lovely to see kids enjoying site, always wary of fast cars!
disappointed
We usually love this site and have stayed here several times. This time we stayed Sat 14 to Tuesday 17 February.
We arrived to be told the site was full, but one toilet block was closed. This was accompanied by 2 toilets, 2 showers and 2 washbasin cubicles in the ladies that were closed and locked, and in the gents, 2 showers, and a toilet locked.
How is this reasonable on a busy weekend with a full site? I had to queue to use the loo on Sunday morning!!
On the Monday morning there was no heating or hot water to the only remaining toilet block. This is incredibly poor.
There was no recompense, no apology.
The site is well laid out and generally quiet at night. We love it here as you can walk easily into town, or catch the bus at a very reasonable cost.
The wardens here are good natured and friendly.
We were pleased to see the approach road now has parking meters, which has discouraged travellers from illegally camping and then using the site's toilet and shower facilities.
What you see is what you get
Obviously wouldn't suit people looking for rural tranquility, but this is a large, busy, buzzy site in a great location on the edge of central Brighton.
Generally well run, but with one washblock currently closed, closing the other one from 10.30 to 12.00 each day is not ideal.
Also, you can't order morning papers.
