Great weekend getaway

We love this site and go for long weekends at least 4 times a year in the season. Walking distance of Marina and Brighton with all it has to offer and lovely walk along the seaside towards Rottingdean. The area is busy as is the site which is often used for accommodation for  conventions like Gay Pride weekend and Bikers etc, so check whats on before you go but we have always found the campers friendly and the Wardens helpful and courteous. Sadly the park area on the access road has twice now been taken over by travellers which has scarred the greenery. Phone signal and Wifi good, only gripe is the piped music which I loath and in my opinion spoils the experience and is not in keeping with the Caravan Club.

Disappointed

First visit to this site and it will definitely be the last. Nothing to do with the site or the surrounding area which are both fabulous but entirely down to the awful wardens. The ones we had the misfortune to encounter were rude, arrogant, and really unhelpful. They were truly appalling and spoiled a much looked forward to short break. Why do the caravan club employ these awful people? Surely the job description should include making people feel welcome. We were not doing anything 'wrong' to deserve such treatment, merely asking for information. Site is wonderful with superb dog walking and only 2 miles to Brighton.

Hardstanding like Concrete!

Big busy site but facilities not bad. Very close to Brighton Marina which was convenient. Brighton itself seems very anti car these days so car parking in town pretty extortionate. Wardens seemed fine to me. Main problem at this site was that the hardstanding was the hardest I had ever encountered! The base seems to have set like concrete so it bent my rock pegs. - I had to drive over to my dad's house (in Brighton) to get a percussion drill so I could erect my awning at this (windy) site. Never needed to drill in my rock pegs before, so think twice about an awning. - I might go for a grass pitch next time.

Too busy

This site is allways booked so thought we would see what all the fuss is about.Too busy for us, but then that's Brighton I guess, We booked for 2 nights but 1 night was enough, the site on the edge of town by the marina at the back of a large Asda, also when we went in April there was a lot of building work behind with a large crane and drilling going on, not cc club fault, clean and tidy but had a change of plan and moved to quiter Dorset. If Brighton is the place you like then this is ok.

Not the best

Having visited other Caravan club sites we would say this isnt one of the best! It is a very busy noisy site so  ot ideal for a restful stay its possible that as there are a lot of Dutch/ German/French they possibly get off at Newhaven and use this site as a one nighter. Its a lot bigger site than most too and the staff dont seem so friendly. Shame but dont think it would be a revisit choice for us.

Not the same as previous years!!!

Recently returned from Brighton after a week at the end of July. Was down there for the PRIDE week. This will have been our 6th year staying at Brighton at the same time every year. I'm not sure what it was, but the site just did not have the same atmosphere as it has had in the past. We did find the wardens continually patrolling around the site on bikes and I have to admit I didn't have my dog tied to a rope. He was sat at the side of me as he is extremely obediant and will not move unless instructed. He lies on his bed, never barks and just watches everyone who passes by. Unfortunately I was told by one of the warden on his bike "If you don't tie that dog up I'll have to report you to the Head Warden". How pleasant!!! I don't mind that rule being enforced if you have a dog who may run off, is at risk of running up to passers-by or causing a disturbance, but not all dogs are like that. Perhaps the CC should produce a leaflet and give advice to parents of certain children: "If you don't tell that child to stop screaming and shouting, disturbing the other residents, I'll have to report you" or "If you don't stop cycling around this park at high speed on your bike, I'll have to report you"! I also found the toilet blocks not as clean as they have been in previous years. Perhaps that's due to the lower number of wardens in place and the fact that a private company now appears to come in and do the cleaning. I also noted that the CC haven't done anything regarding the hard standing pitches that I was told last year by one of the previous wardens were being looked at. I bent 5 heavy duty 8" steel pegs trying to hammer into one of those pitches. Needless to say the site office did replace them when I complained. Perhaps more caravanners need to do this. It's like trying to hammer into solid concret, so be warned if you are on a hard standing pitch. The overhead crane from the building site starting up at 7am every morning was not the best wake up call, but the CC have no control over that. We will go back next year, but I just hope there is a slightly better atmoshpere than we experienced this year!

Enjoyable visit

Stayed here this weekend. Friendly and helpful wardens. Easy access and good sized pitch. Clean toilet block, plenty of hot water in the showers but would have liked some power points to use your own hairdryer/tongs as their hairdryer was not particularly powerful. Some noise from next door football/cricket matches but otherwise quiet,we left before the college  building workers commenced. Easy to get to the city centre, via Volks railway, bus, bike or a pleasant 40 minute walk. Asda and Lidl close by for supplies. We will definitely return

Oh no, the "travellers" are back

We spent yet another week here towards the end of July.  The building work on the nearby college means there is a huge crane looming over the upper part of the site, but further down the only problem is with a bit of whirring noise from the electric motors. The site seems pretty well run, and the access has been much better since the council introduced parking charges along the access road.  However, when we returned to the site on our last evening we had to queue for about 20 minutes while a large party of "travellers" manhandled their gigantic caravans into East Brighton park through the gap in the boundary fence which they had criminally damaged as usual.  Glad to be leaving the next day
