Good for families

Please don't lose what made this site so exceptional. Please!!!

As Caravan Club members for some time this was one of the few non-CC sites we used to go to regularly. As an Adults-Only site we loved the peace and tranquility, the dog walks were exceptional and the “Piece de la Resistance” was the wonderful restaurant “Buzzards”. At first we were delighted to see this was now going to be a Caravan Club site. That would be the best of both worlds. But we hope it won’t lose the essence of what attracted us to it in the first place. Namely the Adults-Only environment and most importantly that wonderful restaurant, which now doesn’t even get a mention in the CC website. I sympathise with the members whose bookings were messed up – but please, Caravan Club, don’t lose the basics of what was a truly lovely site. It could be a real Gem of a CC site – but don’t lose what made it so great in the first place.

I hope you are right.  CC Ltd has seemingly already done a lot of damage so if they stop perhaps things will get better.

If you mean that they have started to put right the poor state of the site and  poor booking system that has been inherited from the previos owners to make it a safer inviroment for all, then I think "damage" is in the eyes of the nieveundecided

If the site was in such a bad way why on earth did the CC Ltd buy it and now moan about it?  Currently advertised as an Award Winning Site on the CAMC website, it truly WAS. So many lovely ‘individual’ hedged pitches. I dread to think what will happen to the mature hedgerows and trees when the bulldozers come in!

As for the so called poor booking system used for the last 11 years, it never failed, and everyone’s individual requests were catered for. The previous owners worked hard to keep the site nice and cater for everyone. Now we won’t be able to book because of the ridiculous CAMC booking system whereby people can book years in advance, not commit and pay a deposit and cancel when they feel like. But not to worry because it is ‘easy’ for everyone.

I dought if anything will happen to the pitches which do not meet fire safety regulations they will hopefully just as now be non awning, the same as at Seacroft in Norfolk, and another a era will be converted to all weather awning pitcheswink

The Club should NOT come in and change the terms and conditions of the site like this when people have booked in good faith. The time to change if you must is at the END of the season.

We are members of the Club but booked this site in August because it was Adults only.

It is high time there was a proper debate about Adults Only sites because I am sure we are not the only members who would welcome them.

Went to this site a couple of years ago as it was adults only. We like peace and quiet during school holidays. Loved the site then, but won’t go back during school holidays again.

I have to ask again, if there was any chance of this site remaining successful and profitable as an AO site, why were there apparently no alternative bidders willing to take it on? If there had been, then good luck to them but, as a club network site it will be open to all members.

I do accept, though, the argument that many have booked for this year in good faith and it might have been fairer to hold any changes back until the end of the season.

Fairness does not come into it. You don't purchase a site at the start of a season for a club and its members and then say 'yes it is a CC club but sorry no children allowed'. Fair would have been the previous owners who sold out asking those that they took bookings from if those people wished bookings to stand or would they prefer a refund. That would have been fair!

I do agree with you in a way, Alan. The onus should have been on the previous owners to inform customers of this change. As you will know from this and other threads I welcome the fact that all club sites are open to all members - but I do recognise that some folk will have booked well in advance on the understanding that this site was AO and the site will have changed fundamentally since they did so.
