Good but could be better

This is a lovely site managed by an excellent team led by the very helpful Debbie and Nick. But its facilities are not up to normal Club standards. Initially I was allocated (unusual for a Club site) a pitch in the lowest part of the site where I had only a limited TV signal, no wi-fi and no 4G mobile signal. Fortunately Debbie was able to move me to the top of the site to a pitch with lovely views, and strong 4G signal, but still only limited TV and wi-fi signals. Excellent walking from the site and a good lunch at the Hare and Hounds pub. Not currently a site for families but certainly scope for development.

Close it down and start again!

If you want to take this site under the umbrella of the CC and charge relevant site fees then bring this place up to some sort of standard. Friendly warm welcome but allocated pitch. Understood the reasoning because the pitches are so mix matched it’s hard to just let everyone choose their own. Nonetheless some of the pitches were so close together it was ridiculous and a fire hazard. CC shove rules about health and safety at you at every opportunity but they seem to have gone out of the window at this site. The toilet and showers were adequate but that’s it. It’s a thankless task for the wardens but they do their best making them as clean as possible. They are so dated, shower curtains and some showers you could barely turn round in. Probably the worst facilities I’ve seen and we’ve been on so many sites. All said, it’s a charming site and in a great location but we won’t be rushing back.

Little Gem

We loved this site. The wardens were fantastic and very helpful especially when our fridge broke down during hot weather. OK the shower facilities need updating BUT PLEASE PLEASE don't refurbish away the character of this site. The hedges give the site a continental feel and to us it felt like being in France without the French (joking). CAMC please don't turn this charming site into another SS site. Static by Stealth with PODS. Great holiday, lovely site in nice area.

Fantastic little gem!

What a Beautiful place ! We stayed here for the weekend in our moterhome with our dog Molly. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. Fantastic walks for the dog and close to westbay and the beach. The toilets/shower blocks were very clean, such a pretty peaceful site. I would highly recommend and stay here again.

Not the best review but there is hope!

We were a little disappointed with this site. The pitches vary, some quite small. The facilities are dated and as they are set out as individual bathrooms a little restricted when site is full. However, I understand that plans are afoot later this year to close and completely refurbish. It needs better pitches, better access roads around the site, a brand new facilities block and oh yes, the staff need an office a little bigger than a broom cupboard! This is a fairly recent purchase as a club site but is not yet up to the standards we expect from a CAMC site. Let’s hope that the improvements happen as it is a great location for a site.

Beautiful site

We arranged our family reunion at this wooded and tranquil site. The pitches maybe random in size , but there’s always enough room, with even allocated parking near your setup if needed. The facilities were spotlessly clean and the wardens were very pleasant ,friendly and helpful. Nearby the walks through woods and conservation areas lead to delightful meadows along the river where we saw all sorts of wildlife - deer , birds and dragon flies. This walk eventually ended at a nice pub should you wish to visit. Nearby is the Hare and hounds pub at Waytown. Excellent pub with good homemade food and a handsome welcome from Bob. This is our third visit to the site and we have never been disappointed. We understand that the Club will be developing the site further - please do not spoil its character!

Unfriendly Warden

If you enjoy being told off for parking in the wrong place when you first arrive after driving all day, this is the place to head for. Yes I admit, I missed the “New arrivals” sign but to be greeted by the Gastapo with “you’re parked in the wrong place” (instead of “would you mind parking over there please” narked me so much we left, cancelled our booking and then revoked our CAMC Membership.

Peaceful & tranquil site in a super location.

Just come back from an amazing weekend at this site, having never stayed there before, but having read all the reviews. Staff are all very friendly and helpful, including Debbie and her colleagues, they even took time to have a chat with us about how to begin the application process to become Assistant Site Managers, as my wife and I are interested! The site is in a peaceful tranquil location and everything is kept clean and well maintained. We took our dog and the walks on site and outside were amazing. Wee will definitely be staying there again!

Lovely setting and well-maintained site

Our first visit to this site and we had a superb time. I was a little concerned having read some of the previous reviews regarding the facilities, but actually I found them more than adequate and spotlessly clean - even the uni-sex private bathrooms I found quirky - but must admit numbers of facilities were limited and there were queues at busy times when the site was only around half full. The layout of the site, with hedges, trees and spacious plots around old farm buildings and rambling walks is lovely and very well-maintained by the hard-working wardens. The dog walk from the site was wonderful, one of the best I've encountered, and the location for the Jurassic coast and days out was perfect for us. Yes, I would return should we tour this area again, but with the limited number of showers may choose to avoid in peak season.
