Great site

We stayed here for 3 nights. The site facilities were spotless and a real credit to the wardens. The coast and Sowerby Hall are within walking distance. The site is lovely and peaceful. Would definitely stay there again.

Visit spoilt by over one zealous and argumentative warden

Within five minutes of arrival was had a go at apparently I was speeding as I crossed a speed hump, The biggest problem was the sheer arrogance and bad attitude of the warden who shouted at me then came to my van window for a face to face lecture. Bad start spoilt short stay

We are relatively local to the site, and have been many times - usually very early in the year, and our last trip of the year. This time we decided to see what the difference was during the peak of the school holidays! We pitched on the new section, it has an open aspect, but obviously as time passes the trees etc that are planted will soften the area. Pitches are flat and a good size, the toilet block was always pristine, although if I’m being honest I prefer the layout of the older one, plus the toilets themselves were primary school height - even in the cubicle adapted for the less able! However for us it wasn’t too bad, although I can imagine that for people who are less able it could be a problem. The team of wardens are fantastic, we saw them helping people so many times over the week. As it was school holiday times there were obviously quite a few children about, but they were well catered for with a lovely safe playground and a field to play football etc on. Needless to see we will be back later in the year.

Bridlington

We came to this site new to caravanning and when we arrived the staff were really helpful. A member of staff even helped us get onto our pitch and he gave us some helpful tips. We found the site quite spacious and the toilet facilities were immaculate, the power in the showers were great. Even when the site was busy it was quiet at night. We have two dogs and found the dog walk really good, there are different paths around the dog area and leaving the grass long in the middle is a good idea as it prevents other dogs from seeing one another and can get on with their walk. Our son enjoyed the children's play area which is always a bonus. No problems with Wi-Fi Overall we enjoyed this site and will be visiting again

Great first visit

As a recently bereaved person I have to decide to continue caravanning on my own and see how I get on. There are times when I can manage myself and there are times when I need help. On my arrival at reception I asked for an easy pitch number to get on. The lady there gave me a number of options and tried to make contact with Paul for assistance. Unable to reach him I carried on as I had a caravan mover. I do like to have a go at reversing which I did so made an attempt to do so but needed some help. Thankfully Paul had made his way to me and helped me to reverse on and move the caravan so I could get my wheel lock on. It was so kind of him to say that there is never a need to struggle on your own, always ask for help and you will get it. This made me comfortable from the start of my holiday that I could ask if I needed to (I didn't). The site and facilities were immaculate and the dog walk was fabulous for me as I have three dogs to walk. The fact that some of the dog walk is left to grow for nature provides a natural barrier, should it be required, to other dogs on the walk and you can take different paths to avoid others. So to sum up, great site and great wardens, with particular thanks to PAUL and the lady on reception .... the holiday started in the best way possible.

A very pleasant site

This was our first visit to this site. Our chosen pitch was on the old section, rather than the new, which we thought was rather open and characterless. Although I am sure this will change as trees and hedges develope. The site is ideally located for local walking, without using any transport, other than perhaps a bus. There is an hourly service with a stop just outside the site. The coastal path can be accessed by a non publicised route through the golf course. A narrow track through the woods, not across the fairways. We walked into Brid this way and bus back and also the other way to Flamborough head. On summer weekends there is an open top bus back from the head, or you can carry on to North Landing and get the hourly bus back on any day but Sunday. We also visited Bempton Cliffs RSPB (free entry with CAMC card) about 3 miles by road. Or you can do as we did and park at Thornwick bay and walk along the cliff top path. About 3 miles each way. At this time of year there were hundreds of nesting Gannets and we even saw a few puffins. Nearby Sewerby Hall and gardens is also well worth a visit. Walk, drive or bus. It also contains a small zoo, which would be great for young children and is good value for money. We also visited Filey without using the car, bus to Brid and then £5 day return on the train. For shopping the nearby Co-op, passed on the way in from the west, was very good. Or there is a larger Tesco in Brid. We thought the farm shop next door, very poorly stocked. Site Wifi generally worked well and 4G was available on our EE and O2 phones. We particularly liked the herbs, provided by the wardens, which you were free to help yourself to.

Excellent site

I pitched on the new section of the site – although the entire site is fairly new. The new section is bright, fresh and has a wonderful open aspect and really big pitches, in width at least, with lots of space between them. The site is very well kept. There’s no sense of being hemmed in here such as I tend to get on so many sites. Some trees have been planted and these will grow to reduce the open aspect, but I do not think this has been overdone as is so often the case. The older part of the site had a much busier appearance and I was very pleased to be on the newer section. The loo block was lovely too. On arrival one is made to read a notice about CCTV watching for speeders! Rather patronising, I felt, but it made no difference - most still transgressed, some alarmingly! I had a serviced pitch. It was rather expensive I thought but it was a really good big pitch, good and flat, with everything on one tidy bollard – water, neat drain, electric and TV – the latter being arguably the best TV reception I have ever experienced. I rely on 4g so I did not test the Wi-Fi. My only niggle, and it is a minor one, is that, despite being very wide, the pitches are not as deep as they might be notwithstanding that there is acres of room behind them. They could have been a metre or so deeper. I accept there would be additional cost to this, but it would have been marginal, surely, and I just can’t figure this out. My motorhome is biggish at 7.77 metres but there are many bigger. I was told to leave two feet behind my van (something I can’t recall being instructed to do before) and that meant only about a foot of free space between the front of my van and the road. This makes one feel slightly vulnerable and a bit tougher for others to swing their van onto opposite pitches. I prefer to be snug to the back of my pitch if it means a bit more room up front. The location is good – although some distance outside Bridlington itself. There is an hourly bus service to Bridlington (or Flamborough and North Landing the other way). I would not describe this site as being great for cyclists; very much average with busy roads around and very limited dedicated provision. There is a paved cliffside path into Bridlington although accessing this requires about a mile on the busy roads first. In the direction towards Flamborough the path is very narrow and unpaved and only really suitable for walkers. Dogs were in astonishing abundance here during my stay. I sometimes think the CMC and the Kennel Club should merge; their objects and values often seem so similar! Not to be mistaken, I really like well-behaved dogs too, as owners I met will testify, and only my work prevents me having one or two myself; but I’d work hard to train them so that they were not a nuisance to others and if, at any time, they were a nuisance to others, I’d have the decency to apologise for that rather than make it seem like it was the fault of the sufferer!

First visit to refurbished site

Refurbishment impressive, but not sure value for money. £67.50 for 2 nights, motorhome and 2 adults. We are gradually moving away from CMC due to costs. Especially paying seasonal prices when we use CMC sites all year. What are the 'perks' of being a member?

Lovely site

Excellent site; even the 'older' part seems like new. This a credit to the wardens who keep the whole site in a very tidy, as new condition as well as being very helpful and friendly. Facilities are very good. The site is peaceful except for the pigeons who wake up at the crack of dawn. Overall though you won't go far wrong here.
