Top class site

Spent three nights here, using it to visit Brecon via the canal towpath, plus Abergavenny and Goetre Wharf. The site itself is top class, the facilities blocks (there are two) are immaculate, and cleaning is scheduled so that one is always available. The only niggle is the road noise - it should be noted that the site is in the 'V' formed by the A470 and the A40 at a junction roundabout. We didn't find it too invasive but then, we didn't spend any time sitting outside! Also note that in order to access the canal towpath it is necessary to cross the A40 dual carriageway twice, which calls for vigilance and fleetness of foot. One other thing - there is a bus stop right outside the entrance in a turn round layby, but we found that no buses actually called there despite whatever the timetable says. We enjoyed the stay though and can recommend.

I agree with the comments about road noise and road crossings. Noise not a problem if you get a pitch on the side furthest away from roads but might be a problem if you are outside a lot. My biggest concern is the safety of crossing the 2 dual carriageways on the walk into Brecon. This can be downright dangerous as the crossing point is by the roundabouts and car drivers are not looking for pedestrians. The traffic level depends on the time of day so at some times its not a problem. I think something should be done about this to improve pedestrian access on to the towpath. I found a route using a small canal bridge marked on OS map that required only one dual carriageway crossing but the gate to access the towpath was tied up and it required a barbed wire fence crossing. This should be improved.

I agree with your comments in relation to the roads.

I found that in the morning and early evening (rush hour) that the noise levels were elevated and in particular on the area of the site we stayed on which was next to the A470.

However it didn't bother us too much, as we spend most of our days out and about and not on site itself.

Also agree with comments regarding the crossing of the road to get to the Tow Path.

We had two dogs with us and it was challenging when the traffic was heavy to safely cross the road due where the crossing points are situated and the speed of the traffic.

Although I am not sure how much influence the club can have on this as I am assuming the crossings are maintained by the local council.

Other than that, top marks for this site.
