May Bank Holiday - 3rd May to 8th May

WON'T BE COMING BACK HERE AGAIN! We have visited this site many times over the years but will not becoming back following the victimisation we have had to endure from the wardens, on three separate occasions, the second and third clearly arising as a resilt of the first. For which we feel so strongly that we are writing a formal complaint to the site head quarters. As we were pitched next to them we were clearly "easy pickings". On Saturday, one of our three dogs accidentally escaped from our awning through the apron attached to the caravan, he then went to another dog to fight, the lady who had her dogs was exceptionally good and understanding. However, one of the wardens was far less understanding, coming over to us in an aggressive manner THREATING us that if our dog was not tethered he would remove us from the site. He didn't ascertain any facts but just jumped to conclusions. If the dogs had have been outside we always tether them. Amazing how when we walked around the site there were so many dogs outside that weren't tethered, even though the site rules clearly state they should. On the second occasion, on the Sunday morning, we were told that the dogs could not urinate on the hedge at the rear of the caravan, only in the dog walking areas, as per the sites rules!! Think these need to be more clearly written then or the wardens taught how to interpret them properly. The final straw came on the Monday afternoon when a third warden knocked on the window of our caravan "to make sure we were in" as someone had reported the dogs barking??!! The site is not maintained to the very high standards of the previous wardens. We noted how on all previous occasions, especially at Bank Holiday weekends, the grass had been cut, the roads were clear of stones where the hard pitches are, and the site looked immaculate. We accept rules, but if the wardens want to enforce them then they need to be "police patrolling" the site and applying to them to everyone. We noted they didn't seem to enforce the 5mph speed limit!! What we hoped would bean enjoyable weekend was totally spoilt. AS I OPENED WE WONT BE BACK HERE AGAIN.

From what I have read the warden is justified in their action, If your dog had attacked mine I would certainly not be ok about it, and If I was on your pitch after you I would also be unhappy to smell dog wee even as a dog owner.

Please read my other responses before being so judgemental, get all the facts, and fully understand the circumstances.

I trust your dog is never allowed to urinate anywhere in public when when it is desperate!

Please read the initial report more carefully, the dog was not peeing on the pitch but on the hedge at the rear. If you have had a dog from a puppy you will appreciate what it is like to house train. When you have a rescue dog that isn't only not house trained but is very nervous due to its past life then it is even more challenging. This is our first time away with her. If she did not come with us how do you think she becomes trained and socialised?

Please read my post more carefully.

I said "pitching area" and the hedge at the rear of your pitch falls into that category.

I am very familiar with the difficulties involved in taking on a rescue dog but a club site is not the place to train her. Take her to a different type of site where the standards are more lax and then bring her back to club sites once trained. You really aren't being fair to your fellow club members in expecting them to tolerate the behaviour you have described.

You'll be hard pushed to find a bigger advocate for dogs than me but I find it unacceptable that you are bringing untrained dog(s) to a club site and expecting the rules to be bent for you.

In today's society people are too quick to be judgemental without ascertaining facts.

But you gave the salient facts in your first post. You went on to confirm that the dog is not socialised.

Accidents do happen Critcml. That does not remove responsibility for keeping your dog under control especially as it is apparently not socialised. To have an accidental escape is unfortunate and mistakes where no real damage is done may be forgiven; but to criticise the warden for taking you to task following such an incident is, in my view not as easily forgiven.

Was that better without my using sarcasm to soften my words?

I would certainly really hate it to have that pitch after you. You got off lightly

If your dog had attacked anything to do with me I would have got the police involved!

Tinwheeler, at no point I have expected the rules to be bent, even though many many others do.

You are entitled to your opinions and perhaps you need to suggest at the next AGM that no puppies until trained are brought onto any club sites!

"Take her to a different type of site where the standards are more lax and then bring her back to club sites once trained" - is very synonymous with the "snob" remarks that's associated with this club

You need not worry though, as we have already decided that we no longer want to be members of this club and when our membership expires in August we will not be renewing it.

We use many private sites where their owners are delighted to receive us our dogs. We'll spend our money where it is clearly going to be better appreciated.

Good idea, C, because you clearly don’t want to abide by the ways of this club.

There's no point at all in me continuing to try to show you the many ways you have misunderstood the posts, the rules and common sense issues because you have your own mindset that says you are right and the rest of us are wrong.

Snob? Nope, nothing could be further from the truth. ๐Ÿ˜

One of your posts  does mention the third occasion one the site staff knocked on your window to advise it had been repoerted your dogs were barking, was that while you were in attendance?or had you left your rescue dog/s unatended, when you as stated was nervous

We are now on our third rescue dog, all from what we understand bad previos lives, and would never leave in to them strange accomadation compared to our house,

I think who ever reported the barking did a service to all and should be congratulated for their actions,l who "could be unaware" what happens when the owner/s is not present

Instead of what normaly, happens the first inclination that site staff have is when it is reported on a review as "we wil notl be returning to to this site because of unatended barking dogs

I hope you and all others who have responded can hamd on heart say have never broken the 5mph speed limit on site!

I don't THREATEN people and therefore dont expect to be threatened.

Apply all the rules, all of the time, to EVERYONE.

I will certainly not stand for VICTIMIISATION.

Are you accusing us posters of threatening you? If so, that is out of order.

If you feel you were treated unfairly on site, your recourse is via the club at HQ.

Incidentally, if I was reprimanded by a warden for exceeding the speed limit, I would accept it with good grace and apologise. I certainly wouldn’t write a ‘review’ complaining about the warden doing his job.

Iโ€™m so sorry your dogs had an unfortunate start in life, Critcml, as it must make life difficult.

However, you should not let your dogs pee in the pitching area. End of. If your dogs aren't sufficiently trained you should not be taking them to club sites.

Furthermore, it is your responsibility to ensure accidents involving your dogs escaping do not happen. It only takes a little care and thought.

Wardens are often criticised for not upholding the rules, so Iโ€™m very pleased to hear that the Brecon wardens are on the ball. Well done, them.

How do you stop your dog from peeing on the grass! Do you tell them to cross their legs and wait until you get to the dog area?
