Just returned from a lovely week here. Before we came we bought a detailed map of the Brecon Canal. The map was great as it showed bus stops, car parking etc. The Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal must be one of the most scenic in GB, its lovely to walk. The bird life along the canal is also fantastic, we spotted Redstarts, Spotted Flycatchers and Red Kites. Visited Garwnant Visitor Centre (lovely for children with fun sculptures) and Brecon National Park Centre with a totem pole. Site is really good, I don't think you would ever have to queue for a shower, there are so many of them. Our 3rd time here, we shall be back next year to do some more canal walking. Only downside is the road noise which we noticed more this year than previously. But all in all a great site.
We have just returned from a 4 night stay here. What a wonderful site. Very clean shower/toilet blocks. The wardens are all lovely. There is a lovely play park for the kids and also a wooden activity area down by the stream. Nice to walk the dogs too. The site in general was peaceful, just a bit of road noise if you stay on the lower pitches. Only a short walk the the canal towpath, great for walks and cycling. Will definitely return and for longer.
This is the 2nd visit this year staff first class, toilets showers, are spotless, the site is 2nd to none won't find better anywhere will return before end of season
A superb site for visiting Brecon and the surrounding area. Efficient and friendly wardens. Only downside is there is road noise affecting some pitches but this did not seem to put anyone off!
This is an excellent site for modern facilities, location and scenery. Shame they did not connect up the co-axial sockets on the posts for TV reception when they did the upgrade last year unfortunately. If you don`t have the triangular adjustable aerial to set to NE you probably won`t get any reception.
Our biggest disappointment (and nothing to do with the site!) if you are keen walkers avoid the public footpaths that take you fron Groesffordd to Llechfaen which can be reached from the site. It appears that the local farmer at Llechfaan does not appear to want walkers on the paths owing to padlocked gates, overgrown paths not being maintained and even a ropped off section next to his farm! Having reported it to a warden they were going to investigate reporting the problem to the appropriate authority.
Overall, apart from this small hiccup an exceptional holiday. We can fully recommend the cycling along the Brecon Momouth towpath with a lovely tea shop at Talybont - on - Usk about 45 minutes cycling from the site.
Having just returned from a 5 night stay, my wife and I just had to express how stunning this site was, from the second we arrive the wardens couldn't of made us feel more welcome, the fercilities were a credit to them and the club. The little shop was extremely well stocked with everyday essentials and the fresh bread rolls are a must. The surrounding country side band views from the site was absolutely amazing, We would definitely recommend a visit and can't wait to return. Plus if the fancy a nice meal the Three Horse shoes is a must.
Stayed 3 nights Aug '15-Motorhome.
We have experienced 31 Club sites and this is probably the best.
Impressive large site with good facilities for children.
The Showers Block is certainly the best visited Anywhere - a true credit to the Club.
There is some road noise from the 2 A roads nearby, but not a problem.
The nearby Canal provides lovely walks or cycles both to Brecon town or longer but much more enjoyable towards Talybont. The Star pub at Talybont is well worth a visit (an olde traditional small pub).
Walks to the south into the Beacons gives you the wilder Brecons experience.
We would strongly recommend this site to families & adventurous adults who enjoy the outdoor life.
This was our 3rd time on site and we love it.
Wardens so helpful and pleasant
Ideal location for walking into Brecon also good bus and taxi services.
Site so clean and showers etc brilliant.
Only downside was the lack of tv ariel points like on some other sites but we had so much to do didn't really miss not having tv this time.
Lovely friendly owners and a very well groomed site with immaculate facilities. The 'dog walk' was very clean and leads to a lovely little stream and adventure playground. Just a 10 minute drive and we were in the hills, We only had 3 nights there so climbed Pen y Fan, visited the waterfall walks and realised we could have happily spent a couple of weeks finding our way around the area. Brecon is a good little town with enough shops, good pizza at 'proper pizzas' and not overly busy. We will be back next year or maybe even later this year if we get the chance.
