3 Night stay July

The site is in tip top condition with excellent shop, toilet block and location to town. Just off site there is a good local pub for both food and beer. Great canal walk to Brecon. Only downside is to continual loud noise from the Converging A roads. As they are heavily used you get the noise all night , as the site is next to a roundabout and a steep hill you get the full effect from the traffic ... Motorbikes and local boy racers ...Shame.

Nice Place to Stay

Stayed here for ten nights beginning of July, lovely site , facilities very good and kept very clean . Only spoke to staff on entrance to site , three minutes booking in and that was it , saw them a few times but were never acknowledged, the lady running the shop was very pleasant and helpful guiding us to the local pub within walking distance . Brecon is about 30 minutes away walking along the canal, nice town . So much walking and cycling in the area . Regarding the noise some people have experienced if you look at the site plan you can ,if the site is not busy work out the best plots to stay on , l read the reviews about noise . l always work out or try to , the best plots for facing south or west so we get nice warm evenings sitting and barbecuing.

Excellent site but unhelpful unfriendly welcome

Location is excellent for stay in Brecon Beacons and site itself cannot be faulted (except site map does not show the exit from the site, nor are there any signs on the site itself and we drove round and round a very complicated one-way system before giving up and asking a camper how to get out - not the same as the entrance). Spotlessly clean shower block and washing-up facilities, modern and well-equipped. (We didn't liked the music in th eblock, but that's a personal preference.) Surprised by the unfriendly and very unhelpful attitude by staff when we arrived - woman not interested in answering our quetions (and did not point out the exit to us...) and when we queried sosmething later she just said she had already given us a bit of paper about it. It would hav ebeen so easy to smile, say we already had it but to tell us the answer anyway. We are used to having lovely welcomes at club sites and were very disappointed by the lack of enthusiasm and interest. I would not like to be here for a week or 2, we only stayed the weekend so it was an irritaion rather than somethiing that spoiled our stay.

Dogs

This is a tip top site which highlights the return on investment the club puts into its sites. A useful site shop sold a range of goods which means you could be self sufficient on here for a week. An easy walk to Brecon along the canal once you can find the way out of the site and then cross two dual carriageways ay the roundabout. We didn't hear any traffic noise or bikers noise - we were to the rear of the site. We did hear the barking dogs. This site had too many dogs not on leads and too many excitable dogs barking at each other. As this site is large and popular with dog owners, it may not be suitable for people who are not dog lovers. Fortunately, whilst we're not dog owners, we like dogs and tend not to bother if they bark. Location on the by-pass made it easy to find and get away into the gorgeous countryside. Brecon Cathedral is worth a visit.

Great site

Just returned from 6 nights at Brecon Beacons. A really lovely site with smashing Wardens, who are always working...cleaning windows, painting fences as well as the daily duties. Bins are emptied numerous times a day, so are never full. Facilities are second to none. Wonderful. Brecon is good for shopping and the canal is lovely. However, the traffic noise is unbearable, from early morning to late night. And as for the bikers at the weekend.... the noise is abysmal. Unfortunately we were on a service pitch a few yards from the road. But wherever you are on this site, the road noise can be heard. Such a shame as the site its self is one of the very best.

Noise Spoils It

Our first visit to the Brecon site and area, 4 x nights 16th - 20th June. This is an immaculately kept site with first class staff and facilities but for us let down by the appalling road noise (especially over the weekend) when pitched on the full service pitches adjacent to the main roads. There are no doubt pitches less affected by the noise but we had little choice on arrival. Somewhat peeved to pay £3.90 per night extra in the circumstances. Nice canal side stroll into Brecon but take care crossing the A40. Great base to travel out from for seeing the wider countryside. The on site shop is possibly the best that we have come accross and probably stocks more caravan acessories than a lot of dedicated accessory shops. In conclusion, we loved the countryside but there must be somewhere more peaceful to stay?

First Timers

This is the first Club site that we have stayed at, and all I can say is that if the others are like this - we've left it too long and have been missing out! The site itself was clean and tidy, as were the shop and reception area. The toilets? Well! Spotless! Loved the music in them and would have happily sung in the shower had it not been for the fact that I can't sing. The showers were great - no problems there and so nice to leave it running and not press a button every few seconds. We took our dog - the dog walk was excellent, but could do with a few more poo bins around. Nice bit of woodlands to roam around in, and hidden away was an adventure course which my daughter loved. Didn't get the chance to go to the children's play area as we had the dog with us, but it looked brilliant - plenty of area for football and some! Walked into Brecon from the site (took a little longer than expected) along the towpath, stopped at The Bank Bar for a meal before heading back. Good food and dogs welcome. Also attempted to climb Pen y Fan but realised that heights (especially when windy) are not my thing. I would suggest going early in the day though as it gets very busy. Also visited the Mountain Centre and did a walk from there - got soaked own the way back, but went into the cafe for a coffee and cake. Nice but a bit steep (the prices). All in all, we enjoyed our 4 nights away (only spoilt by people talking in their awning until gone 1:30am) and can't wait to go again. I've suggested to hubby he might like to go there with just the kids and the tent next time.......

Excellent Site

We have visited this site before and are really impressed with the facilities and location of the site. The site is well maintained and the shower/toilet blocks are the cleanest we have seen.....all thanks to Julia and Eddie....well done guys your hard work really does pay off and is evident everywhere you go! The park and playing field is fabulous and the trim trail for the kids through the woodland walk is a really nice addition. The soft play centre right next to the site is good value and a good place to go if it rains. Lovely dog walk on site with streams to jump in and lots of woodland to explore. The nearby Llanfaes which is about 5 minutes drive from the site offers excellent Fish and Chips at The West End Fish bar on Orchard Street which is great value for money with really tasty plentiful portions. Big thumbs up for this site!!
