We rather liked this site. The two toilet blocks are superb and it has a proper motorhome service point. I was surprised to find a pretty reasonable shop on site run by a lovely lady. Even had newspapers on sale which did not need to be ordered in advance. The site is unusual that of the 100 or so hardstanding pitches half of them were serviced. The WiFi seemed to work quite well which was a bonus. Brecon is not far away and it is about a mile and half walk along the canal towpath. Unfortunately you do have to cross two busy dual carriageways before gaining access to the canal so care is required. Also this access to the canal is pretty steep if you have bikes. When you get to the canal terminus in Brecon there is a handy cafe in the Theatre foyer overlooking to canal basin. Brecon is a nice town to wander around with lots of interesting shops including three supermarkets. There is a bus service to and from the site entrance between Brecon and Abergavenny but you need to check the times carefully.
Unfortunately whilst we were staying here Margaret had to attend A&E in Abergavenny and I would like to thank the site staff for their help and concern.
Nice site pity about the noise
The site is modern with plenty of large pitches catering for all requirements.
The staff seem pleasant and there is a shop, with items you might have forgotten on site.
There is a shortish walk to the town via the canal towpath which is pretty.
Brecon has many cafes and assorted shops some suitable for browsing. The areas of scenic interest are not far away.
The site itself is spoiled by the noise. It is wedged between two main roads so inevitably there is traffic noise all day.
If you are out and about every day this wont worry you.
What might is the incessant grass mowing.
The scourge of the Kobuto or Kobutu mower is very evident.
We have been here two days..the mowing starts at 0900 and continues all day.
It must be the case that these machines exceed noise pollution levels allowed...the drivers all wear ear defenders.!
The club has a mania for short grass, and make the life of one member..a misery.
When will they buy electric machines..?What is the point of a neat tidy park, that we cannot enjoy due to the mowing the blowing the cutting and the collecting.....
Lets have moderation...please..
Lovely site
Lovely campsite. Wardens very friendly and helpful. Well stocked shop. Toilets and showers first class. Lots of space and hooks to hang things. Good pressure shower ,always warm and never had to queue.Great variety of things to do and see in the surrounding area. Thoroughly recommend it.

A Welsh Rarebit
We spent 10 days here from July 9th until July 19th 2017. As usual the wardens were very friendly and helpful. The staff in the onsite shop were the same and nothing was too much bother.
The site itself is located a short walk along the canal from the town centre in which the usual supermarkets are located. The town centre is an interesting make up of quaint shops and several cafes and pubs are dog friendly which is a big plus for us as we go everywhere with our two dogs. The on site dog walk is really very good.
On site facilities were spotless and the cleaning of them was done at a more civilised time in the afternoon.
The weather could have been better but all in all we would go back again.
Are children welcome at MCC sites?
We have visited the Brecon site for many years, in fact our daughter was 6 weeks old on her first visit. The site is well kept, the shower block facilities are spotlessly clean and the increase in hard standings has been a positive move for the site. Over the years we've seen the wardens come and go however over the last 2 years we've seen a decline in their friendliness and in particular their attitude towards the children. Unfortunately we have also experienced this negative attitude towards the children from other caravanners. Please remember that this is supposed to be a family friendly site, if you don't like spending your holiday with very well behaved children who know how to respect the facilities, have good manners and respect for their elders which has been engraned in them from an early age then maybe you should work/holiday on adults only sites? The previous wardens have complemented us on our children's behaviour, in fact the did so again when we stayed in Pembrey earlier this year. Its disappointing that this type of attitude is affecting the reputation of a site which was once one of the best around.
Really enjoyed our stay
Surprised to read that other reviewers found staff rude as we did not experience this, in fact we found Sue and Phil (if I've got the names right) to be very friendly. The site and facilities are exceptionally well maintained, we couldn't hear any road noise on our pitch and we particularly liked the fairly extensive dog walk area. Very good pub 15 minutes walk from the site up a quiet lane. Take bikes if you have them as it's an easy flat ride along the canal towpath into Brecon (or about half an hour walking).

Lovely site but very rude staff
We have been coming to this site for many years. It's local to where we live so very handy in between work to get away for a couple of nights. The site is lovely and clean. Brilliant access for walking and cycling. Unfortunately this time and our previous couple of times we have found the wardens very rude, un helpful and poor attitude. We use the caravan club sites a lot, even over seas sites and have never experienced such awful staff! We have stayed at sites with fantastic wardens that really couldn't do enough for you and were very welcoming. You never get a warm welcome at this site. Unfortunately having experienced this again this time and the last couple of times, we will no longer be returing to this site again. Which is a shame. The wardens at pandy site are absolutely lovely and would recommend.
4 night stay planned turned into 7 nights so good.
Fantastic staff as always, good for local food, drink, shopping .Nice easy stroll to village along canal side.Noise was not a problem on our pitch, all facilities clean, tidy, well cared for . Booked-in in no time, needed to extend our stay staff coped easily with our wish. Big thanks to all staff.
3 Night stay July
The site is in tip top condition with excellent shop, toilet block and location to town.
Just off site there is a good local pub for both food and beer.
Great canal walk to Brecon.
Only downside is to continual loud noise from the Converging A roads. As they are heavily used you get the noise all night , as the site is next to a roundabout and a steep hill you get the full effect from the traffic ... Motorbikes and local boy racers ...Shame.
Nice Place to Stay
Stayed here for ten nights beginning of July, lovely site , facilities very good and kept very clean .
Only spoke to staff on entrance to site , three minutes booking in and that was it , saw them a few times but were never acknowledged, the lady running the shop was very pleasant and helpful guiding us to the local pub within walking distance . Brecon is about 30 minutes away walking along the canal, nice town .
So much walking and cycling in the area .
Regarding the noise some people have experienced if you look at the site plan you can ,if the site is not busy work out the best plots to stay on , l read the reviews about noise . l always work out or try to , the best plots for facing south or west so we get nice warm evenings sitting and barbecuing.
