Great site great location

A lovely welcome from the staff and a lovely well kept site. The staff seemed to be busy all the time, emptying bins keep the water points clean and obviously keep the wash areas spotless. Would have liked more of a view of the mountains but the cloud was down for much of my stay and the Beacons only appeared briefly. The bottom part of the site, closest can suffer a bit from road noise but it wasn’t enough to disturb. Very easy to get into Brecon and there is a lovely peaceful canal side walk. I combined a recommended circular walk with the direct walk into Brecon which was lovely especially watching the boats navigating the lock. It has one of the best dog walking areas I’ve seen on any campsite. A small complaint about fellow campers and dog owners - please clean up after your pets and keep them under control as requested. It’s not difficult.

Great site, Great location, Great Facilities, Great Staff

Brecon Beacons Club Site was the 2nd site we visited on our recent trip to Wales, we stayed for 4 nights. On arrival to the club we were greeted by a staff member who gave us some good advice about the site in relation to the toilet blocks, dog walk and also areas that got sun in the morning or in the evening. We ended up on a pitch to the North West of the site, the pitch was a hard standing and was flat and level with plenty of space for our van, awning and car. The only slight gripe I had was that in this location, you did get some noise from A470 road, especially in the morning. We tend to look for pitches with grass area's around them, which this had, which suites us as we like to have our dogs outside (tethered of course), and they enjoy being nosy watching people walking. In relation to dogs, there is a really lovely dog walk to the south end of the site, and if you want to go a bit further there are directions from the dog walk along to the village of Groesffordd where you will find the Three Horse Shoes pub which is dog friendly, has a lovely beer garden and serves fabulous food. About the site, it is large with 100+ pitches and 2 toilet blocks, however we never felt that the site was crowded at all, despite it being busy when we were there. There was a great variety of pitches, from what I could see, all looked in good condition and the site itself was clean and well kept. In relation to the facilities, these were immaculate, for such a large site, no matter what time I used the facilities they were clean and tidy (some times I wondered if anyone else used them... it was that quiet in there!!). In addition every morning the staff would be out cleaning all of the water and service points. I was very impressed with how well this site was looked after by the staff. On the location, this is a fantastic place to explore the Brecon Beacons, Brecon itself is a 20 minute walk away down the canal tow path and the town itself has plenty of shops, pubs, restaurants and coffee shops. If you are more of the adventurous type, then Pen Y Fan is 15 minutes drive away. There are lots of walks right out of the site if you want to stay on the flat and I would recommend the walk to Groesffordd and then down the canal towards Brecon town. We found a spot for some wild swimming in the River Usk (you can see the photo location on the sites club photos). Overall a great site for relaxing or exploring, beautifully clean and tidy. We will definitely be back.

Dissapoited

Sorry to say that standards have declined at this site . The grass hand not be mown around our pitch . Weeds on the pitch the fencing hadn't been painted for some time around the site . Closure of the small but very well stocked shop is very disappointing . Given the price of pitches I would expect more effort .Most of this work should have been carried out in the closed season .

Another enjoyable stay at this first class site

Last week was my second stay at this wonderful site. As clean as ever & staff as friendly and helpful as ever. Such a credit to the club. Highlight this time was walking along canal to enjoy a great pub lunch at the Royal Oak, Pencelli. Dog friendly, as is the Three Horseshoes up the road from the site.

Lovely Area, Lovely Site, Lovely welcome

We recently enjoyed 3 nights at this site - the second time we've stayed here. We were tempted back by the beautifully kept green and leafy site with immaculate shower block, the proximity to Brecon, and the friendly and helpful staff. The pitches are nice and roomy too. We love the walk along the towpath to Brecon and all the town has to offer, including some good walks, some nice eateries and a couple of good craft beer bars. We had a delicious tapas meal and great beer at the Hop & Gin bar. We would definitely recommend this site, and look forward to our third visit and another friendly welcome.

Superb Brecon Campsite

Stayed with the wife and dog Friday to Monday bankholiday in May. Excellent layout. Plenty of room and quiet. Facilities immaculate and very good. Staff very efficient, friendly, and helpful. Location of site is great for lovely canal walk into Brecon town or walks along the canal in the opposite direction. Short walk to a local pub. Didn’t use them, but food vans served takeaways on two of the evenings. Pizza one evening. Will definitely stay here again as we couldn’t find any fault with the site or location.

Beautiful Brecon!

We stayed last Saturday night. This is a fantastic site with easy access to the tow path to walk/cycle into the beautiful town of Brecon. There is also a bus stop just outside the entrance to the site. Facilities onsite are really clean and wardens are lovely. Grounds are kept immaculately. Pitches are pretty even - the ones we have stayed on anyway! We have stayed here a number of times and will go back again very soon! If you have a car there are a number of things to do locally. Cycling is easy along the tow path. There is a pub within walking distance along a path behind the site to the next village Groesffordd. Food is 'spot on'! Highly recommend this site!

Top class site

Spent three nights here, using it to visit Brecon via the canal towpath, plus Abergavenny and Goetre Wharf. The site itself is top class, the facilities blocks (there are two) are immaculate, and cleaning is scheduled so that one is always available. The only niggle is the road noise - it should be noted that the site is in the 'V' formed by the A470 and the A40 at a junction roundabout. We didn't find it too invasive but then, we didn't spend any time sitting outside! Also note that in order to access the canal towpath it is necessary to cross the A40 dual carriageway twice, which calls for vigilance and fleetness of foot. One other thing - there is a bus stop right outside the entrance in a turn round layby, but we found that no buses actually called there despite whatever the timetable says. We enjoyed the stay though and can recommend.

Terrific staff

Stayed here in our campervan (with friends in their motorhome) and had an awning disaster - very windy night, completely unexpected, a freak gust ripped out the mooring pegs and blew the awning right over the van. Looked out at 5 am and couldn't believe it! Come daylight and opening time staff were magnificent, helped untangle and release awning and even disposed of wrecked parts. No fuss, just got on with it. Thank you so much! Generally site is very well kept, great facilities and dog walking areas. Close to the lovely town of Brecon and the wonderful Three Horseshoes Pub. Only downside is very busy/noisy main road.
