The best site in the Lake District.
This site is on the SW corner of Derwent Water. You can walk your dog straight down to the lake before breakfast - it is just about 200 yards away from the gate. Then before lunch, how about going to the main entrance, crossing the road and going straight up to the nearest mountain path? Then perhaps a walk over High Spy, returning with a good appetite, via Rigghead Quarry. Then after lunch, wander along the western shore of the lake towards Keswick, with a camera and a wild flower book. It isn't far to the steamer pier; or maybe use the excellent bus service to go to Honister, Buttermere or Keswick. Tomorrow? Well you could hire a canoe, rowing boat, paddle-board from just across the water, or cross the end of the lake and visit Lodore Falls, Blea Tarn or Watendlath Tarn and cook lunch on a backpacking stove. The list of things to do is endless, but you could also stay on our beautiful site and enjoy the birds in the trees, the shade, the friendly company and the tranquillity of this very special place. The pitches are delightfully set amongst the woods and the facilities are beautifully kept.
