Peaceful camping in the beautiful Borrowdale Valley
I might be biased, as I grew up in Borrowdale, and passed by this site many a time. But it is truly lovely and in keeping with its natural situation. Electricity was reliable, pitches large, staff very friendly and informative, and it was a quiet haven in the middle of the craziness that characterizes the Easter weekend in this part of the world. No need for a sanitation block when you have your own washroom. Climb Catbells from the gate. Oh, and on a sunny day a trip can be taken across the lake from Brandelhow landings just yards away. £11 for a round trip which takes an hour (or jump on/jump off) and places you in the middle of breathtaking scenery. It's still Caravan Club standards but it's been done so nicely.
