this site is perfect. it is set in national trust woodland right on the edge of Derwent water with lots and lots of dog walks directly off the site. we walked along the lake to the local pubs for a drink and sat in the sunshine admiring the stunning countryside. The beauty of the place, the peace and tranquility are just what we want in a holiday. Yes it is in woodland so if you are a sun worshipper the pitches don't get a lot of sun, there is no toilet block or showers, but we never use them anyway as our caravan shower and toilet are fine. The journey into the site is interesting!!! but its so worth it when you arrive. The site staff I think were emergency staff so had only been there a couple of weeks but they could not have been more helpful and what things they didn't know they found out for us. We had such a lovely time we have booked to go again in October, My only criticism is that it is not open all year round.
