With the lovely fells soaring up and wild flowers in bloom everywhere, the Borrowdale Club Campsite is a delight to the eye. Located about 5 miles from Keswick and set in National Trust woodland, the campsite offers numerous walking paths to explore the beautiful northern Lakes area. It doesn't have to be strenuous - forest trails, nature trails, guided walks and farm walks leave you spoilt for choice. There is also a convenient bus service that runs from the site.
If the Lakes themselves are the main attraction on your holiday break, Borrowdale Club Campsite puts you within easy reach of Derwentwater, popular for its boats and vibrant waterfront, not to mention its range of pubs and restaurants. Bassenthwaite Water is also a short distance away from the campsite and merits exploration for its Sailing Club. If more tranquil surroundings are what you're after, the charming waters of Buttermere and Crummock Water would be just the ticket, as here there is only the occasional passing rowing boat to disturb your lakeside reveries. The lovely local scenery also includes the dramatic hills of Castle Crag and Cats Bells. The hamlet of Grange, with a tea shop on the picturesque banks of the river is only a short walk away and local pubs & restaurants are within easy reach of the site.
Please note: This site does not have a toilet block. Reception at this site may close earlier than 8pm and staff may not be available to greet you. If this is the case, don’t worry, you can still arrive on site until 8pm. We will simply contact you on your day of arrival with details of how to check-in. Please ensure your contact details are up to date on your Membership profile.

View and BookPlease only use these recommended directions for the final approach and not sat nav, due to alternative routes being unsuitable for towing. Leave M6 at junction 40 onto the A66 (Keswick). On the outskirts of Keswick keep right onto the bypass (signposted Cockermouth A66). Within 1.5 miles at the roundabout turn left (signposted A5271 Keswick, Borrowdale B5289). At the T-junction turn left; and at mini roundabout turn right and follow signposts onto the B5289. In about 4.25 miles (about 0.5 mile past Borrowdale Hotel) turn right over the double hump bridge into the road signposted Grange, Newlands (please ignore width restriction sign, this does not apply to the bridge). The site is on the right in 1 mile. Please note: when towing, do not approach or leave site along the west side of Derwentwater. Also, before turning right off the B5289 at Grange, check that bridge is clear, (this does allow caravans). Care is needed when travelling over the double hump bridge through Grange village and on the final approach as there is narrow turning into the site.

Great location and pitches. No shower/toilet facilities but very clear about this on booking. The site was quiet and easy lake access. I was only there one night but would stay longer next time. Looked like clear walking and bus routes from site too

What a beautiful campsite. Hidden away inside a forest you feel really at home with nature. Walk directly to the edge of Derwent Water from site through little paths within the forest. From there walk around the whole lake, or take a ferry part way into Keswick. The walk up CatBells directly opposite... Show more

This site is in a wonderful location with excellent walks and a good nearby pub. Easy link, via bus routes to lots of great Lake District places. Downside for us is that there are no toilets or showers and very few water points.
