Spent 4 glorious nights here in June, ok the weather was beautiful which often helps but we've "done" The Lakes in all weathers & still find it just as beautiful. Friendly, helpful wardens were very welcoming & informative. There were more hotels/pubs within walking distance than we'd realised. The site is set in heavily wooded areas, with the hot weather we enjoyed, the dappled shade was very welcome! No facilities so need your own loo etc but think if this site had a toilet block then it might be 'heaving' - stay as you are Borrowdale, we love you!
