A glorified CL

I have absolutely nothing detrimental to say about the Wardens. They were very welcoming and helpful. The site however was poor. Although very quiet and peaceful the general facilities were very poor. It is a big site with many pitches but there were only 2 drinking water and water waste areas. I rely on my internal motorhome tank and I had to unplug everything and then drive to the water point to fill up each time. I don't have space for an aqua roll. The pitches are of a good size but are overshadowed by the huge number of trees that blocked the few glimpses of the sun that we did have in the week and also blocked any views. It was wet and took along time to dry out due to the darkness and overshadowing. There were none of the facilities that you generally expece on a 'Club Site'. No Toilets or showers as a minimum. This really is just a very large CL, of which I have stayed on many with much better facilities than Borrowdale.

... and the awful traffic. Last time we went the back of our van was 6ft from the road, never slept better. Manesty and Altnaharra are our joint no. 1 Club sites, sorry glorified CLs!

Mind you, you need a degree of fitness to use the service point and there’s no chance of driving the MH to it.  It adds to the charm. 😀

Did the OP not read the site discription,it clearly states NO toilet bock ,and if you google earth it you would have seen the the trees that are needed to make it a woodland setting, we went there last year and thought the motorhome service point very good

an unfair review

Some people obviously don't look at the information they already have.

Sadly, even in these enlightened times, there are those who cannot read.

The OP did make me laugh. Do you know that he relies solely on his motorhome tanks for waste and water and has to drive off pitch to replenish! Can't really see the fact that there are only two service points should be problem ....... not as if he is pulling an aquaroll.

Quite pathetic review really. The Motorhome service area is one of the best we've seen on any club site. When we stayed at the site 4 weeks ago we had a flat pitch that had some sun occasionally. OK we were lucky but I knew beforehand that I could probably be under a tree or not level etc. Still didn't put me off.

And the wardens were the best I've come across on any site, club sits or not. So there.

Will now do a review to balance things up a bit.
