Shame about the weather
My wife, our two dogs and I stayed here for the weekend when the hurricane arrived during Saturday, ah well, not the sites fault....
The site is very well maintained with spotless shower blocks, however, the A53 is very very busy and there is road noise, especially if you pitch at the lower end as we did, on pitch 24. The noise did not bother us at all, but mentioning it to inform others, however, the site itself is very relaxed and peaceful. In fact, our pitch was great in the storm as the trees protected us from the high winds, just not the torrential rain :O( The pitches are a good size and hard standing and did not have any standing water at all on them despite the weathers best efforts. The dog walk is about 300yds long and through a lovely wooded area, from the entrance to the top of the site and good for first and last thing walks for the dogs, there is also a dog wash station at the top end of the walk exit/entrance.
The wardens are extremely pleasant and helpful and work hard all day maintaining the site. The site has some fully serviced pitches but mainly just EHU with TV point which we didn't use as our van ariel worked fine.
I would advise leveling blocks for some of the pitches but nothing too bad, I managed to go into the woods and find two logs which I used under the rear legs of the van as they wouldn't reach the floor once leveled front to back, (I left them on the pitch for the next guests to use)
Really is a very pleasant and well laid out site with small enclaves of pitches dotted around the tiered site which gave us an abundance of room.
The site is about 200yds from the three horseshoes hotel which is OK but it is a long 3 mile walk into Leek, on enquiring, a taxi is £7.00 and busses run but infrequently.
All in all a very pleasant stay and we will be returning probably in September, hopefully without a hurricane.
