We booked this site at the last minute due to operational problems at a different CC site. We arrived late and were met with a warm welcome but a limited choice of available pitches, all of which were bordering the A53 which runs right outside the site. It wasn't too intrusive for us but the vehicle noise (esp motorcycles) could annoy some. The facilities are excellent, clean and tidy. This site is very well run. It is quite a compact site and you'd be best to get as far from the road as you can for an undisturbed nights sleep. We had some heavy rain on one of the days and we noticed that some of the lower pitches (i.e those right next to the road!) had some standing water on them. It soaked away eventually but the hardstandings were a bit soft. As regards pubs, there is one in Meerbrook (The Lazy Trout) which is both good and dog-friendly inside & out. It is also quite busy esp in good weather. We are booked to go again in the coming weeks and this site could become a regular one for us.
