Nice but a little noisy
Just returned from a 5 night stay at Blackshaw Moor. The site is immaculately kept. The facilities are spotless and the fact that there are two toilet blocks is a bonus.
However there is noise from the busy road but the caravan club cannot do anything about that. We arrived on Friday in a thick mist and were unaware of the beautiful views that surrounded the site until Saturday morning. We had a drive out and visited Tittesworth reservoir, we went for a walk around it but got lost and ended up walking to Abbey Green. Still the countryside and scenery was stunning. Sunday we took a drive into Leek - don't bother there's nothing open except pubs and charity shops. On Monday we had a walk on The Roaches - a set of rocky outcrops on the top of the hills- what a view across the county. Tuesday we went cycling at Carsington Water an area that we know well, lesson learnt because as we left today the wardens told us all the places to visit for walking and cycling, they have a knowledge that is just waiting to be tapped.
The wardens were extremely helpful and always on hand to help or chat.
We will definitely return in the future.
I suppose my only negative was the unit with the dogs barking at 07.30am, now when I'm on holiday I don't really want to be woken at 07.30 by someone else's dog only to be joined in by the kids on another unit shouting and crying. Customers in these campsites need to have respect for their fellow campers and keep their pets and kids under control especially at that early hour and remember that everything said in a caravan can be heard by the surrounding units.
Still a lovely site with superb staff keeping it in tip top condition.
