Good for families

Great base for exploring the area.

We have returned today (05.05.15) after a 4 night break at this lovely site. We arrived at the site at about 1pm and there were quite a lot of available pitches to choose from. We chose a pitch on the top level, as we had read reviews about noise traffic, and we are glad that we did, as the noise from the road is quite loud with cars racing past at all speeds. On arrival we were greeted by the wardens in reception who were very friendly and informative. The site is very clean and the grass areas are very well kept. The site is quite large and is on 3 levels, it has 2 toilet blocks, one on the lower level and one on the top level, the only negative is that the blocks only have 2 showers each in them, so they do get busy in the mornings unless you get up very early.  The site is about 3 miles outside of Leek Town Centre, and there is a bus stop a 5 minute walk away with buses running every 2-3 hours to both Leek and Buxton, however the last bus back is about 5pm. The bus into Leek cost £2 per person and the taxi we got back later in the evening was £7.00 total. There are 2 pubs nearby that both serve food. The nearest is Three Horseshoes, this is just a few minutes walk from the site and serves excellent food, the second is about 700 yards away in the opposite direction, up a slight hill to the left and is called The Ye Olde Rock Inn, again nice food and drinks. We would definitely stay at this site again as it is a great base from which to explore the surrounding areas.
