Great location and reall quiet

Super site, so quiet and not near any roads etc. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a great flat walk into Brockenhurst via a gravel track through the forest. Brockenhurst is really great with a number of good pubs doing food and real ales etc. Local shops are fantastic, the butchers, bakers and greengrocer are a must, plus a huge "small" Tesco and Sainsbury's in the high street. Showers and toilets on site are very clean and tidy. The locks on the doors are easy to use? Chemical toilet emptying is really good. Recycling in easy to follow. Great site, well done!

March 2019 Visit

This was our first visit to Black Knowl and we will definitely be returning. Superb location for walking and cycling and the New Forest. We took our two cocker spaniels and they loved their morning ball exercise just outside the campsite. Not an ideal site without a car. Great shower block and extremely level pitch for which we needed no blocks. With so many taking bikes I wonder if a bike shed would be handy. Really welcoming wardens. Well stocked Tesco Express in Brockenhurst nearby. Our son who is at uni in Southampton stayed for 2 of the 4 nights of our visit and he loved it - his first motorhome break.

Superb location in National Park

We received a warm welcome on arrival. The facilities were immaculate and modern. It was a very light site with plenty of sunshine. We took advantage of the wonderful cycling trails and footpaths so close to the site and can recommend the Sett Cafe for a delicious cake and coffee. The information cabin offered many leaflets on the various trails and activities in the area.

Fabulous

Our first trip out in our motorhome and so pleased to have chosen this site. The welcome could not have been friendlier. The facilities were excellent and the location stunning. Will definitely return.

Excellent but with a few minor buts

This is an excellent site and location for our needs, Quiet location, Walking, Road and Gravel cycling. However stupid issues that shouldn't be there and very easily resolved if the Wardens/CAMC admin read this 1: Black Mould on the ceiling of ladies and gents showers, a "flat" mop with bleach on would clean this....simple.... otherwise it is a disgusting and a bio hazard, especially to those with respiratory problems or illnesses . 2: The "Bike/Dog wash is not fit for purpose, I don't own a dogs but it is useless for washing bikes as the hose diameter gives no pressure to blast out the sandy grime from forest roads, nor can you put on your own hoselock fittings as the hose is the wrong size, please fix this to take a hose gun, simple 3: Regarding the above, we "felt told off" by a female warden when told there was a bike wash to use when I was using the supply on my service pitch with "fit for purpose" hose gun. Not sure if I was breaking rules or not?.....be clear as I cannot find anything in the site rules regarding this? More muck and oil will wash off my car and van in a rain storm than I will wash off my bike, all cleaning products I use are bio degradable (a majority are these days) common sense prevails. 4: The wardens (Wardens please take this as positive constructive criticism for improvement) Well we can't really complain but then again we cant really make any positive comments either, they were "unnoticeable" and a lack of engagement or social interaction left us cold, many campers may find this good, we found it a in-personable with a lack of interest in the residents on site. Is being a CAMC warden was more than just a job? Are they better than the campers? One warden in particular has an intimidating physical presence and needs to find a way to engage with the clients on site to overcome this (see previous about engaging with the site customers), further to the bike wash comment, another camper had encountered this warden when washing their bike on pitch as I had and felt intimidated. I feel that from his persona, he is either ex Forces or Police? A bio story of the wardens would help us out here in how to interact with the employees of the CAMC, manage expectations 5: WHY is the information hut labeled as assistance dogs only, it IS NOT a food preparation area and poses no hazard. And we don't have dogs, this is discrimination. 6: There is an over use of labeling throughout, in particular the "don't walk over the cattle grid" is laughable and shows a nanny state attitude from either the wardens or the CAMC....... signs and labels everywhere are ugly and too many get ignored and messages diluted 7: At times we had to help older and more frail campers to open and use the combination lock on the heavy toilet doors. We understand that this level of security maybe required during the months the site is closed but could certainly be managed in a better way during the season when the site is open. Please treat us like grown ups

Lovely site-Excellent warden team.

We stayed here at the end of September to introduce our grandchildren (5 & 7) to caravanning. When I booked online all the serviced pitches were booked so I contacted the wardens to ask them to let me know if a vacancy became available. I was delighted to receive a call a few days before our arrival to say that we could have a serviced pitch for our stay which made life much more simple. That together with the excellent family bathrooms made our stay a great success. The wardens were unfailingly helpful, friendly and supportive. Thank you!

Top class site

Just had an excellent week at Black Knowl, very lucky with the weather, this was a our second visit to the site, thought the new toilet block was a really good addition. Some great walks from the site and Brockenhurst is a short walk with some really good cafes. Will return for sure as still feel loads to see and do in the area. Well done to the wardens for running a really neat and tidy site. The road in is a bit worn but if you take it slowly and keep an eye out for speed bumps as they are a bit difficult to see,it is fine and to be honest it’s not the sites fault as it’s a New Forest national park access road not Club owned one.

A truly excellent site. Everything about this site should be a model for the CMAC: its location immediately next to attractions (ie the forest); the onsite facilities; and the staff. Great site - we need more like this one!

A lovely place.

This is a fabulous site in the forest. This is our 2 nd visit this year. It's great for walking and cycling and Brockenhurst is a half hour walk for provisions. Brockenhurst has a small Tesco and Sainsbury and a butcher, baker and greengrocer plus post office tea rooms and a lovely gift shop. The railway station takes you to Lyminton and Southampton and Bournemouth. While we were there the site won the 2018 C&M 'flower' award. The hanging baskets and display as you enter the site are wonderful, they were even better in June and July a well deserved award especially this year with all the hot weather.

Third visit and there will be a fourth

We had 16 nights at the site between the 2nd and 18th August on Service Pitch 101. This was our third visit to the site, previously 2011 and 2015 obviously before the refurbishments. The new site is very well laid out, excellent new facilities block and the Service pitches area is a welcome addition. Wardens are friendly, efficient, always got a smile and doing a great job. Their flower display near the entrance is a credit to them, it is beautiful. The only downside and there is nothing that the wardens can do about it, is that pitch 101 is seen as shortcut to the facilities block and beyond by those caravanners on the pitches behind. Some members need to learn that cutting across a pitch, right in front of the awning/caravan is not acceptable and peoples privacy should be respected. Will we go back for a fourth visit?- definitely. Will we pay for a service pitch? - debatable.
