First Longer Stay

We have used Black Horse Farm many times in the past as an overnight stay prior to crossing to France. Now that we no longer go abroad we thought we would use the site as a base to explore the locality. I think the only thing that has changed since our last visit six years ago is that the reception has been rebuilt and some serviced pitches have been added. The longer stay pitches are further into the site so don't suffer some of the disturbance mentioned by other reviewers. It is a pity that when they rebuilt the reception they didn't also take the opportunity to refurbish the upper toilet block. Equally disappointing the the site does not have a drive over open grill at the motorhome waste point. The position of the heavy drain covers means that you could block the exit out of the site. There is an excellent General Store just across the road from the site that can provide most basis essentials. There is a very regular, every 20 minutes, bus service between Canterbury and Folkestone. There is also the Black Horse Pub not far from the entrance to the site although on this stay we did not use it. A few stops to Hawkinge there is a Lidl supermarket. The old town in Folkestone is worth a visit, especially what they have done with the old Harbour Railway Station. However the new part of Folkestone is quite featureless. Canterbury is well worth a visit.
