Big pitches and spotlessly clean
Having returned from Europe my husband and I stayed at this camp site on our way home. We were tired when we arrived and, as usual, the wardens were extremely friendly and welcoming. The pitches were exceptionally large and facilities spotless - we would stay again definitely and recommend it to anyone. The pitches are well spaced out but we chose pitch 52 next to the childrens play area - whilst we thought this would be okay as the equipment is only for small children it was used by teenagers who shrieked and shouted - I can only imagine their friends were hard of hearing and the volume was necessary as my own children never did / have or do need to shriek like this. Unfortunately there were also some very poorly behaved boys from overseas who played & ran through our pitch and around our outfit as well as frequenting the bin area and then threw bottles of water at each other which also hit other peoples outfits - it’s not normal behaviour but their parents seemed absent or unwilling to tackle their behaviour. None of this relates to the site as out of their control and the site made up for it. There are few places to walk to after a long journey as the site is on a busy main road. It would be useful to have a list of places where motor homes can park easily in the area - I would have liked to have visited Canterbury. The only thing that disconcerted me a little was, whilst driving through France the day before we stayed on night of 15th July, we received a phone call asking for us to make payment. At the time it was inconvenient - I was navigating through wildfires. The booking said pay at site and, to be honest, me giving my card details over the phone when it is not normal practice for other sites made me a little wary - happy to have paid at time of booking if it’s an issue for them.
