More than just a ferry stop-over

We stayed at Black Horse Farm for two nights, one on the way to France and one on the way back. It is literally 15 minutes max to the tunnel, so it is a great place for an overnight kip before setting of across the Channel. The ferry pitches are all near the site entrance so the regular customers don't get disturbed by the early departures. The site staff allocate pitches so, when we arrived, we were told which pitch was ours. When we returned we weren't in any hurry to get away so I phoned the site in advance and asked for a pitch a bit further from the entrance, and the very helpful staff obliged and put us on a very nice pitch near the first service point. The site and the facilities are extremely well kept, the grass was in excellent condition considering the hot summer, and everywhere was really clean and tidy. Coping with so many comings and goings must create a lot of unique problems for the site staff, but they manage the site admirably. Having taken the opportunity to walk around the site it is clearly a really nice place and is worthy of a visit in its own right, not just using it as a stopover on the way to the Channel ports. Well done to the Club and the staff.
