Sorry but not for us...
Plus points...great seaviews...if you're lucky enough to get one...but look the other way for a far more 'industrial' vista, or enjoy what we had, very high, very thick, very thorny rose 'trees' that totally block all views beyond, whatever they may be. The site is tidy and the toilets clean. Against...are you sitting comfortably? This is essentially a transit site for people travelling to and from Scotland with the high turnover of visitors making it very busy indeed. Site access is too narrow, creating severe congestion, made much worse by newcomers being allowed on too early and those leaving having to stop and call in to reception to drop off their barrier cards. The site has a tight layout with very little room for manoevre. The wardens were friendly enough but we witnessed one tell an elderly man to move his small, awning-less caravan as it wasn't tight onto the pitch marker...which is fair enough however the next day, the owner of a 7m long double-axle Hobby 650 arrived but wasn't challenged when he pitched totally on the wrong side of his pitch, facing directly into our caravan and awning. Rather than parking his 4x4 between us in order to preserve some degree of privacy, he left it on the grass at his blind side between him and the pitch beyond, leaving the face to face gap between us totally exposed. Surely, as members, the Club Rules should apply to all. Not only was this form of pitching obtrusive to us but from thereon in, our caravan and awning was filled with the smell of constant cigarette smoke from our chain-smoking neighbours, a source of huge annoyance as we are non-smokers. The noise of the trains was of course there but not an issue for us...far rather listen to them than having our space invaded in the way that it was. As for the town of Berwick, this is the first time we have been for 10 years and by comparison found it somewhat run down which is a great shame for such a historic gem. Probably an okay enough site for a stop over but not as a holiday base in our opinion.
