Good To Be Back

We arrived at Seaview on Friday the 16th March which was the first day of the new season. The drive up north from our overnight stop at Durham was pretty horrendous in strong gusting wind and heavy rain. Disappointingly this site had been closed through the winter, we had enjoyed the previous two Christmases here. Wardens Steve and Mark assisted by Lisa and Keith are now running this site and gave us a very warm welcome on what was a particularly cold and miserable day. The Saturday and Sunday of that first weekend saw snow, hail and subfreezing temperatures as the strong winds continued. Despite the terrible weather the site was kept running smoothly with no problems and the wardens were even out after dark salting paths and steps. The remainder of our ten night stay was in much nicer weather and we were able to admire the stunning view from this site. The Northumberland coast is a beautiful area and there are lots of interesting places to visit within easy reach with Cragside being one of our favourites. We had an enjoyable picnic by the lake there in the wintery sun. We have further bookings at Seaview later in the year but our first stay of the season will be quite memorable due to the extreme weather. Well done to the wardens for coping so well and being such a lot of fun.
