Excellent site.
Love this site. Well maintained, very pleasant and helpful staff and wonderful views. Yes, Spittal itself is perhaps a bit less than 'picture postcard' perfect – it’s had a hardworking past but there are many interesting properties and parks to see and the views out to sea from the promenade are absolutely super - particularly if the weather is a bit brisk. Fortes ice cream from the van on the promenade or at the car parks is as good as it gets. There is always Berwick next door ( free parking all day in the main car park) and the wonderful North Sea to look at and paddle in. From our site position, we had a 140degree vista from the Berwick bridges to the left, past the estuary and around right to the full ocean - nothing like it. Have seen seals underneath the Berwick bridge responding to whistles and calls and lots of swans in the estuary – haven’t seen dolphins here yet but this year saw them just off Seahouses harbour, racing beside a boat and leaping clear out of the water – wonderful!. Several beaches within reach with lovely clean sand and Rocky pools a-plenty. We love this area - have been visiting for 50 years and still not seen everything. We will be coming back - until we drop. Would really prefer to discourage people from coming so we can have it to ourselves but we have reviewed it as we see
