Disappointed- High Speed Trains!
If your idea of holiday is spending it 15 feet away from the East Coast Main Line from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh, then this is the place for you. The trains run from 6am to 11pm, every 10mins or so (sometimes 2 at the same time) and heavy freight trains run during the day and in the middle of the night. The regular train at 3:30 am felt more like an earth tremor. It must be a deliberate decision by CAMC to omit this massive white elephant from their site description.
The toilet block is outdated and in need of refurbishment, given what CAMC now charge us, there should be plenty in the coffers to do this. The site is cramped and the access road narrow, meaning to get on and off a pitch you have to pull a good way onto the pitch in front of you to manoeuvre which is hardly fair. Don’t try to leave or enter the site between 1230 and 1400 as it is a single track in and out when new outfits are arriving.
The Covid regulations put in place by CAMC don’t work. Only 3 people were allowed in the toilet block at once without any distinction between those using the shower and those just wanting the loo. If you time it wrong you could and up waiting 30mins for the loo! No where else in the country(other than CAMC campsites) have we come across a rule with only allows 2 or 3 people in a public toilet, so why should it apply when we have to pay £30 ish per night for the privilege?
All in all, we won’t revisit this site. OK it has a sea view, but that doesn’t make up for the rest of its short comings.
