A Rather Wet Mayday Weekend Break

A five night stay arriving on the Thursday before the Mayday bank holiday meant that we were well established before the rush of arrivals on Friday. The welcoming site team mapped out for us all of the pitches suitable for our just short of 8 metre caravan - there are quite a number of shortish pitches on this site. The ratio of facilities in the well kept toilet block, to the number of pitches is good so no queuing like we have experienced elsewhere. Despite the rain which seemed to defy the forecast at times, the site has great views across the mouth of the Tweed. Although the East coast main line runs close behind the site, the noise level was surprisingly low and never disturbed our sleep. Tide times were right and the weather was great on Saturday afternoon so we made a trip to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne only a short drive away. We made the short journey to Paxton House on Sunday, no longer occupied and in the hands of a trust - excellent informative guided tour. From the site it is just a short walk down to the Spittal beach for a stroll along the sand if the sun shines. Some photos of the site at https://www.flickr.com/photos/g0cqk/albums/72157667946191915
