A Great Town and a Great Touring centre for Northumbria

The route to this rather special site from A1 is straightforward. The site rises fairly steeply from Billendean road, and is contoured into several terraces. We stayed for 7 nights in September 2016, on a site at the top level in the northenmost cul de sac. Here the access drive is relatively narrow, the pitches not deep, and there's not a great deal of wiggle room. Views from many pitches, over the Tweed estuary and the North Sea, are magnificent. A gate pass is needed for vehicular access and also for exit. A bus stop outside the site is served by bus B6 which takes you to central Berwick. The helpful wardens will give you a bus timetable. Asda and Tesco supermarkets are not too far away. Although "Site Full" notices were up, the very good amenity block coped without a problem. Behind our pitch ran the east coast main railway, but we didn't find the rush of passing trains unduly noisy or intrusive. Berwick itself is mighty interesting, with its special walls walk. The site is superbly placed for virtually all the outstanding attractions of Northumbria, and in addition there are some great unspoilt sandy beaches nearby. Futhermore, the scenic east coast of Scotland is just a few miles away. We had a great week and would love to return someday.
