This is a lovely site with the best views of any site we have been, The wardens were lovely some of the best. We loved it that the shower block was not closed to early in the morning gave us loads of time to lie in walk the dogs and have breakfast, I think some sites forget we are on holiday!! Well done Wardens. There is some noise from the railway that passes by but they are run by electric from wires above so not as noisy as the could be. Wouldn't stop us going back in fact can't wait to visit again but as a 8 hour drive won't be for a while. Shame!!!
Just returned from a week at this site had a great week although weather wasn't great, the site is great, the wardens are extremely helpfull and always willing to help, facilities are wonderful, a credit to the club, will most certainly be returning. Thankyou
Unfortunately our stay was limited to one night,as a call came that our daughter had fallen ill in Newcastle.I would like to thank the staff for changing our booking to the Old Hartley site in Whitley bay.Thankfully all is well now with our daughter and we where able to carry on with our holiday thanks to the helpful staff at Berwick.
We have stayed at this site many times in the past twelve years and never tire of the view. The whole of the Northumberland coastline is special. We will always want to return.
The site is very well cared for, clean and tidy. The wardens are very friendly and do and excellent job. How they do what they do and keep a smile on their face is impressive.
It was disappointing to see some inconsiderate members taking their dogs to use the tent area as a toilet and making no attempt to take the dog off the site.
We will look forward to returning in September.
We unfortunately used Sat-Nav to find the site (WRONG) - took us down a narrow dead-end to the beach and said "you have reached your destination" - use the directions out of the Club Book. It is a steep site with limited size of pitches which seems worse when you look at the space (or lack of it) between pitches. Felt we were staying on a storage site, but a very pleasant one for that. Wardens were great, very helpful recommending which pitch to choose etc.Very clean and well maintained
A very enjoyable visit. Easy to reach off the A1 even with the speed humps. It is a tiered site and the entrance is quite steep.Hill start required after booking in. Although the pitches are level some are quite short. Up and down hill to the toilet block(which is spotless) and water points can be tiring. The view of the bay is spectacular - if you get the right pitch. The main train line behind the site might be off putting for some but it did not affect our enjoyment at all. We walked into Berwick easily - 30 mins but there is a local bus which stops at the site entrance. Will certainly be back.
Our very first visit to the North East and we chose this site for its location. We had a fab pitch on the second row with a sea view between the trees. We did find the site a little cramped, particularly the roads, which are really narrow, and some pitches are quite short. To be fair, when checking in, the warden pointed out which pitches would be suitable for our caravan (7.2m). Wardens are super friendly, railway noise, as said before, but you get used to it, and a fantastic location for trips out to the Farne Islands, Alnwick and Holy Island. Definitely enjoyed our stay and the weather was good too!
Absolutlely agree with the two last reviews, just two negatives it is very crowded when full, the pitches are very close together also we pulled up in a lay-byas it is a 1 o clock arriving site to find no one else adhered to this!!! Whilst we were here people were arriving at eleven fifteen. Not very fair
