Great site and great location.
We stayed at this site for the first time in mid October on I believe the only dry weekend and were not disappointed. As earlier reviewers had said the welcome was warm and the staff extremely helpful. Our pitch towards the rear of the site, was quiet, a good size and had both both electric and water services. Plenty of room too for our awning. We liked that cars were parked in a car park and not on the pitches and thought the tractor aided pitching of caravans a great idea as it probably saved time and effort for the owners. It was also interesting to watch and how quickly the spectacle was over!
We tend to stay at adults only sites and this one was one of the best we've stayed at. The owners have obviously put a lot of thought into the development of the site as evidenced by the individual toilet facilities, the admission protocol, information boards at the entrance, dog walk and landscaping etc.. In fact everything is designed to make the whole stay as enjoyable as possible.
As others have said the Red Lion offers good home cooked fare and the local store is well stocked. Was going to try the Cafe at the lake but heard several people complain about the wait and incomplete orders, so gave it a miss.
I guess the only minor drawback as a dog owner is that there is not a lot of wide open spaces, within walking distance, for dogs to be let off the lead; our lab enjoys a good run ! However we'll definitely be staying again.
