Disappointing Site

The site is well kept and very tidy. Unfortunately all the staff we met were somewhat abrupt and not very welcoming. On arrival the lady in reception knew our name before we announced who we were and after asking us for the balance of what we owed in addition to our deposit, handed us a form asking us to consider supporting the site to win a national award after adding' if you find your stay enjoyable' We were then told to unhitch our caravan from the car as it would be towed to our pitch by their tractor driver. He arrived quickly telling us to follow behind him in our car to the pitch. He placed a piece of wood 4" wide under the offside tyre (no exaggeration, I measured it!) I queried it was rather narrow but he just dismissed my observation. Without saying anything he indicated in a parallel hands motion, to park our car alongside the hitch while he sited our caravan. No allowance was made for the water container space between the pitch and the grass edge which had wooden edging to it, or the position of the alko wheel lock. He placed a 4" wide piece of wood ( I measured it!) Before leaving us he put a spirit level over the front window to ensure the van was level. We assumed he was not a caravanner as drainage is important. When we were left alone we resited the caravan properly using our own wood which is the correct width for the tyre. The individual washroom and toilet cubicles are very clean but are unisex. Notices telling the ladies where to place certain discarded private items are not very appealing and it would be more acceptable to both sexes to have their own cubicles. In the morning cleaning finishes with the floors left soaked in water and there are no squeegy mops to prevent guests thinking they would be better with webbed feet. Vehicles are not allowed to be sited with caravans and we were told to move the car as soon as our things were offloaded. Visitors are charged £2 per person per day to visit guests and must leave the site by 6pm, unless the management gives permission to waiver this rule. Internet in the library was so slow it was almost unworkable. If personal internet is required the charges are quite high. The individual washrooms and toilet cubicles are very clean but are unisex.   We paid £28 per night to stay on the site so perhaps the internet could be included in the high fees levied. Visitors are charged £2 per person per day to visit guests and must leave the site by 6pm, unless the management gives permission to waiver this rule. We spoke to a number of caravan owners on site and we all had very similar views. Like us they each said they would not be returning. That is a shame because all the criticisms could easily be addressed. Being an adults only site we wonder if it is really necessary to have so many signs telling guests not to do this and that and you get the feeling the owners are trying to make rather over emphasised rules. When leaving you are not allowed to hitch your own caravan to the c
