Oh, what a shame it is closing.

Just returned from what is likely to be our last visit to Baltic Wharf this weekend. Heartbroken that it is closing. OK, its a bit of a car park site, OK there is some city noise (and some construction noise at the moment but not during the weekend) but its location, location, location. We have frequently taken our seats (and perhaps a glass of wine or two!) and sat out on the floating harbour side just outside the back gate and watched all the comings and going, little sail boats, stand up paddle boarders and the Matthew making its harbour trips. We have enjoyed the social interaction on the steps by the Cottage Inn (pre-Covid) with all its good natured fun. Doing a "lap" of the harbour is our Friday afternoon thing after we have set up for a quick weekend. This weekend we checked out the location of the potential new site. Obviously nothing compared to Baltic Wharf but its only a 10/15 mins walk from Underfall Yard so its not a total loss. Still hoping that Baltic Wharf will get another stay of execution but the journey in through the city centre due to the roadworks on Cumberland Road is just a nightmare for us. Goodbye lovely Baltic Wharf, we will miss you.
