Great location but tired facilities
An excellent location to visit Bristol and sample all the local restaurants, pubs and attractions on foot. The back gate gives you immediate access to the riverside and is an excellent walk around Bristol city centre finishing off with the choice of two pubs providing excellent refreshments and food.
The site is compact with only a few pitches for awning and the most frustrating thing about this is that most if not all of these pitches are not being used to put up your awning. The toilets are showing their age and the gents toilets have extremely poor flushing capabilities. Despite the warning that it can take unto 2 minutes to fill the toilet flushing system it only takes on average about 15 seconds to flush empty resulting in blocked toilets and not a pretty half flushed contents staring back up at you; they need to resolve this issue, quickly.
Their are good links outside the main entrance for getting public transport and there is also good walking along the the river.
The practise of preventing arrival before 12 noon is standard club rules and I was disturbed to see a warning notice stating that the gates would be locked after 11am and opened at 12 noon as an incentive for members to leave before 11am. I thought when booking a pitch it was for 24 hours and not 23 hours. That said, I did not see the gates being locked and there were many occasions when new arrivals were arriving well before 12 noon; confusing what?
I also noticed signs stating that the site was NOT to be used as a dog walk and members had to clean up after their dogs. I have no issues with dog fouling and like most members are extremely annoyed when this occurs and as a responsible dog owner I always clean up after my dog. It seems as though there is a campaign being waged against dog owners, perhaps if this attitude was aimed at members who speed around sites, go against no entry sings, walk through your pitch instead of walking around the site on paths and roads and a most of other unacceptable actions.
Despite the negative comments, this is definitely one of the jewels in the crown and if it is lost to the Club will be poorly missed and detract from the options available to visit.
