Good for families

Well maintained site, hard working wardens.

I have never seen such a well maintained site, the wardens were on their hands and knees working the flower beds keeping it in excellent condition. The site is quite undulating though, and we struggled to pitch our van level, we even had to move from one pitch as there was no way to get it level (7.6m van though). There are some level pitches which back onto a housing estate. The grass area was closed off due to the grass being so wet that it was not usable, this at the end of July! The area is under a preservation order and has many mature trees which do block out a lot of light. The washroom facilities are very clean and rarely seemed busy. The local village is quite small but there is a train station within 10 mins walk that took us into Edinburgh. No playarea and we were asked to keep the children within eye-sight at all times, not to allow them to cycle around on their own. Maybe a wise choice with some of the roads being quite steep.

Very dark at night, not much lighting anywhere.
