This is a lovely site with clean, up to date facilities. However the wardens didn’t really seem too pleased to have us there when we arrived and I didn’t feel particularly welcome, especially when I asked if our two parties could have adjoining pitches (which were available). They didn’t appear to enjoy their time there which created a bit of an atmosphere. Some of the pitches are in the trees and this can be quite gloomy. There was a change of staff halfway through the stay and they seemed to enjoy their role much more which put us at ease. This is an excellent base for exploring Edinburgh and Dundee via train (there is an excellent train service) and getting to the village of Elie by bus. Lots to see and do in Balbirnie Park too.
